Anyone ever use a butane grill on the ice. I am looking to buy one for camping and ice fishing and wanted to know if the cold weather gives it problems?

Butane doesn't like cold. It stays liquid and won't flow out of the tank.

I have a "microrocket" that runs on isobutane/propane mix. The burner and fuel fit in a coat pocket. No problems using it on the ice thus far.

Butane doesn't put out the heat in cold temps, takes forever to even heat up soup. That's just my experience with butane...

D60 I have a two burner SS stove that is fairly compact but saw a one burner restaurant grade butane stove in a plastic carrying case at SAMs Club for 25 bucks. Saw that the the butane canisters were cheap and liked the small size so decided to get it. Have used it three times this year on the ice without problem. Has an piezo igniter and does a great job with chile and soup. My 2 cents.

MMM some delicious venison. I went with propane and have been grilling up some breakfast sausage venison on the ice and make bfast sandwiches. I wonder if that combo would work on a tipup

I use a jetboil pack stove. I got the one that comes with a coffee press. I can have a hot fresh cup of coffee in about 5 minutes. If I have the kids with me I take the jetboil sumo bowl with me and I can heat soup or make a couple packs of ramen noodles in just a few minutes. I also carry a couple of mountain house meals with me for just in case I get into I situation.
