Keystone state park is usually a really good lake to ice fish. This season the lake has had a real slow bite though. Ice is good to go again. Lake is stocked with trout and is a big bass lake.

Any suggestions where to fish on the lake for panfish? Thanks

Keystone is a very good lake I spend alot of my Time on this lake ice fishing. Mostly because it's close to home and fish this lake alot so I have a really good idea where  to catch what usually this year although it's been tuff. I've found if your after trout they usually run in the  6 to 9 fow range at the edges of the channel or edges of the old lake bed. For panfish it's mostly good in the deeper water down towards the dam right around 20fow also this lake has alot of man made structures in it from last time they did a lake draw down  and the ice is good I checked it this evening and will probably be heading out tomorrow morning

Thanks for the reply! Would over by the logs in the water across from launch by dam be good panfish or in the middle? Thanks!

In my opinion the best spot for panfish is down in the corner of the dam on the same side as the boat ramp  probably about 30 feet of shore and 30 feet off the dam the water drops to about 22 feet deep we have been marking lots of fish there  and I'm not to sure what logs your talking about out from the ramp  and also if ur not to fimiliar with this lake watch for the springs there is a good bit

Post by: icecoldchrome on Jan 22, 2018, 11:49 AM
I'm hoping so I drove by for work today and didn't see anyone I'm going to check it out about 330 ill let you know what I find I would imagine the ice is still good just might be a bit soft at the edges where it's not as thick  if you go out take a buddy and be safe I would stick to the dam side myself seems that's always the better ice after a warm snap

I went over to check the ice today about 1:00. There were 3 guys on down by the dam. They said ice was about 4-4 1/2" But there was open water all the way around the shore. Think I'll give it another day or 2.

Where u able to get on the lake at all?
Title: Re: Keystone state park
Post by: Crappiehunter1981 on Feb 06, 2018, 05:31 AM
I fished it from 12:30 tI'll 6:30.  The edges were ok not great but stiff.  I did not have any problem getting on or off.  The trout kept me entertained during the daylight once the sun went down the crappie turned on.  I probably caught 50 cimbibed.  The decent crappie just started to hit when I had to pack up.  I did not harvest anything but it was nice to catch some fish.

Heard nothing.  I was out there Monday and I spudded everywhere I walked.  But it was all solid.  I would be curios to know where they went throught.

That’s what I thought Saturday the ice was plenty thick enough. Maybe the lady heard wrong

I took my son and one of his buddies out fishing for my sons birthday spend 12 hours trout bite in the day was ok but crappie really turned on a night. We caught a bunch and 12 over 12” and 4 over 14” it was a great time for my son special day. Ice was around 6” but with the rain and warm weather not looking good. If I ever figure out how to send pictures from my iPhone I’ll post some.
