Wind block.

I was woke up by thunder last night, then put back to sleep by the sound of RAIN!  11/28/06 and I came in to work with a hooded sweatshirt and an umbrella.

One of my morning highlights is looking at local ponds and lakes and seeing how much ice is there.  Because of the rain, there was none today.  I am confident tomorrow will be a new day!!! :)

Looks like the mercury is holding at 9 degrees for us here in Glenwood.  Now if the stupid wind would stop so that the lake would calm down we could get to some ice making.  Pretty tuff to make ice with 3 foot rollers.

Won't be long now.

That is ice boys!! Pelican Lake, that is Breezy point to be exact. There were guys out fishing on some smaller lakes off 371! If this keeps up we are set! Two guys walked out on that bay in the with a spud bar right before I took the pic. If this keeps up we will have a few opportunities for good ice SOON. Mille Lacs has a ways to go, so does Gull. I am reading 4 degrees Fahrenheit right now at my house. FIRE UP THE AUGERS!!!!!

I spent a weekend at Breezy Pt in high school, place is bada$$. The lakes aren't even skimming down here yet, but with this weather, it shouldn't be too long now.

Well fellas, hate to say i beat ya, but just got out today up by Grand Rapids.  Had to take the 3 hr drive, but it was worth it!  Got a bunch of nice eyes at my favorite first ice lake, i'll be posting some pics here as soon as i get my usb cable.  Me and pops ended  up w/ 11 b/t 15 and 19" that we kept, plus a couple more in the 23" range, a little too big for the bucket if ya ask me.  All in all a GREAT first trip this year!!!!!

Always wear clean underwear, cuz ya never know when the paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off.

Minnewaska is froze over and rumor has it someone was out on the Glenwood end off the beach last night.  It didn't freeze over solid till yesterday morning.

I did notice on my way home last night that there are about 1000 or so geese keeping a couple of holes open by the school and sheriff's landing.

I probably won't go out till sometime next week.  Don't need to become a member of the Polar Bear Club!!

Otter Tail lake finally froze over last night! That's the last one to go around here, time to fire up the '"jiffy" and get the house ready to go....

Well, we here in the North Star State dodged that bullet today. Gonna call my old boss in Kansas City saturday and see how bad it actually got there. Went on the KCTV5 website and they have live video feeds around town, and I 70 was messed up. I would rather have cold than the foot and a half of snow.
