i found that the perch colored hali works the best but the orange one hammers them almost as good, try the blue and white one on really sunny days thats the only time that one works for me. you can also put the chain and hook off your halis on other lures that increased my bite ratio tremendously, if you dont know, those hooks and chains are sold seperately from the lure, good luck

The white and green glow, and the green and orange both work very well along with the perch color for me.

Started using these this year after noticing an older gent catching more fish than anyone. The perch color tipped with a couple of maggots does best for me. Love the smallest size in the deep water; it is way heavier than most spoons of that size, so it gets down quick, and you can feel the bites.

Yup these are great jigs.  Like previous posts orange and perch color have worked well along with silver, gold and the blue/white glow one.  I really like this jig for crappie and perch.  For bluegill I scale down a little.  Glad you like the jigs.

Today I was fishing a specially regulated lake in PA. The gills and sunfish have to be 7'' to keep; perch 9''.  The whole day was slow, but as the light dipped (5:30) the fishing got good. Was using the smallest Hali, perch color tipped with 3 maggots. Sound familiar?  In additon to the seven pumpkinseeds and gills that I iced in the last 45 min.,there were two perch 11'', and 12''. Only got one throwback, and that was an 8'' perch. Naturally, there were several missed bites, plus one wrapped around the transducer. It was the first time I fished the lake, so I'm not sure if the fish are really that size on a given day, or was it that pesky lure. Who cares!

Ok, I have never used these but want to pick some up.  I really have never had much luck with any spoons.

My big question is how do you guys tell you have a bite?  Do you feel them decently or are you guys using camera's to see them bite?  I wouldn't think you'd be able to use a spring bobber or regular bobber???

Just lookin for some answers...

most baitshops have them. Fish hit them like any other hook on a line. Just bait it with mousies , spikes or meal worms.

Use a ML rod with 4# test line.
You should feel any decent fish that is seriously interested...

Well I just tried this jig for the first time this weekend and the perch loved it!!!  I was impressed with how hard they actually hit.  I used the hook that came with the jig, tip with 3-4 spikes and it worked great...

I also began using these for the first time this year and am VERY impressed.  I tip them with spikes and the perch love em! They are pricey but to me it's worth it when you get what you pay for.

I take mine and remove the chain and put a snell about two inches long on with a treble or red hook and bead on the snell, when fish are finicky the lighter snell or dropper will let them inhale the bait a little easier and the extra weight of it makes it great to get down fast in deeper water, won't leave home without em ;D

Forgive my ignorance, but..... which model works for you guys. Found Hali's advertised, but they have several models listed.  What do you recommend for perch, walleye??

Thanks!

I have heard good things about these jigs on ICESHANTY.COM  I ordered all of my Hali Jigs 25mm jigs in every color except the blue perch color.  I found replacement chains at Herb Phillipsons and they also had a few of the lures I ordered online.

I was wondering if I should add 35mm lures to the box because I will be targeting walleye and big perch.  I saw them in the store and they had the same size chains and hooks.  What is the major advantage to having a heavier head?

I fish central and northern NY.
