Would this rod be ok for lakers/walleyes? Lakers as big as the low 30"s

I had 3 Daiwa rods that I think are the exact same rod. I would bet they are the same rod with a different name. The blanks are hollow, not solid. Thought they would be just the ticket. I ended up snapping all three about 6" up from the reel seat while setting the hook on smaller lake trout. Reading the reviews on the Bass Pro Shop website it sounds like these have the same problem snapping. I ended up using the handle portion and short section of rod that was left to make some"custom" Ugly Sticks".

No taper in the blank in front of the butt, doesn't bode well for the rods back bone ! Not surprised to hear their snapping !
