10-1/2 lb pike through the ice.
« on: Jan 15, 2006, 11:23 PM »
Pulled this hog through the ice at Pigeon Lake, Alberta.
Caught it on 8lb test and a jenz worm and smelt with no leader.
I could barely get his head to come up the hole.  When he hit my line I was taping vancouvercanuck with one of the first fish of the day, thats why the video is dark at the start cuz I put the camera in my pocket with it still recording while I ran to my rod.

I didn't think it was funny....but the ice "cracked up".

Cool video man.  zzzzzzzzzz... I love that sound of the drag ripping off.

It might be my favorite sound in the world.

With the drag set right to let him run and keep the line from snapping.....and I got lucky that he didn't swallow the jig and razor me cuz I didn't have a leader on.
