On Black Friday (11/28/14) my fishing partner Ryan and I took to the ice in Central Minnesota in search of some nice sized Crappies. We spent a good portion of the early afternoon chasing a roaming school of Crappies. We would catch 1-2 nice ones and then have to move holes with the fish. This all changed when we found ourselves on top of a massive school of nice quality Crappies. We didn't want to spook them by punching another hole so we team fished out of the same hole for over 45 minutes.

Great video! Love this kind of fishing!

You're a better man than me. I would of told my buddy to go find his own school of crappies. J/K. I would of drilled a hole close by. Had this happen last year when we found a big school. Only lasted a few minutes though.

Awesome video!!

Nice video & narration. Good numbers of Crappie too... but in Ohio, we have a minimum 9 inch size limit. Think most of them would have to be released. Regardless, thanks for video and your efforts.

We kept a few 9 inchers early on when the bite went a bit cold but all the fish on the ice from the hot hole were 10-12". Anything over that is always released by me.

Nice work! Getting on a feeding school like that isn't the easiest!

Nice video! Voiceover sounded NPRish (good voice!), and I thought I also heard microSpikes as you were walking from hole to hole.

Haha yeah anytime I don't record the audio with the video it comes across that way. Good Ear! I have been putting my Kahtoola's to use this season, most of the time I use cleats once or twice and then the lakes are covered with snow but I've used them 9 times this year and don't see that changing anytime soon. The microSpikes are awesome!
