Have to be closing in on a foot in Eliazbethtown. If there is good ice anywhere its going to be rough going getting around...good thing I built a smitty sled for my clam.

pounded here in tupper... had about 2-3 inches but thats trashed now
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in northern New York

we probably got about 20 inches give or take. my buddy put a tape measure on his deck that was completely cleared yesterday and measured 20 inches today. maybe a little blown in but still...a lot of snow in 8 hours. bad for the lakes though big time

I'll post later tomorrow with necessary info, i.e. ice conditions, how much food Was consumed, and how much tobacco spit was created   ;)

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE LAKE. Due to all the snow and lack of cold weather the lake is not safe to ride or walk on.

I figured some brave man will be zippin across the lake today, but maybe not with the 20inches of fresh snow from the other day. Hopefully no one tries it because it doesn't look good, with many brown spots

As promised, here's my Eel bay report. About 2-3" of ice, topped with 3-5" of slush, then add another 5-10" of snow and you got current conditions.  The walk was horrendous, and the fishing was even worse.  Spoke to roughly 30 people that came off and 95% got skunked and the ones that didn't, got two or three perch.  People started leaving a little after 9 with the majority gone by 11.

Spoke to coast guard and they said they couldn't get out of their hover yesterday anywhere on LOTI.  The snow really gummed things up.

I think I may have spoken to you when I got on the ice, we caught about a dozen perch in the three inch size range and said the heck with it and left, not quite enough ice for my liking with all this snow.

Yes Fishon35 is correct! (Eel Bay) The ice is horrible and I would say it wont get better for awhile. I was there and measured 2 in ice in most places.....drilled 1 hole with buddy and it was cracking like crazy.....no thanks! Didnt even bother to get out a rod!  Talked with quite a few guys and most didnt even get a bite and no flags. So we headed to Chippewa Bay.......(did not see anyone on Goose Bay) same thing only 10-15 in of snow with 8-12in of slush and water and 3 in of ice......fished for 2 hours and caught an 8" perch a 9" perch and 4 2"dinks. Bad, bad day.....and drove all the way from Oneida Lake. But it felt dam good to be out there for the first time! Think we will wait and see what next weekend brings.
