Was wondering what the target species is in Hannawa?
Lots of current through Hannawa Pond.  Never seen anyone fishing there.  I'd say there would be pike and maybe a walleye or two.  Probably some perch and rock bass.

I wouldn't waste my time there honestly. Guys get small pike and walleye. Mostly guys fish by the beach area or out in front of the bar so they can drink while they watch there tip ups inside.

Ranger Bound, you better give up the name of the lake, your GPS coordinates, what bait you used, best place to park or else you're a no-good, low-down lake hog!!!!!!!! ;) ;D ;D ;)

AdkRoy, you can come with me Monday if you swear to secrecy and close your eyes when we are 20 miles away rofl. Bring spikes and your quest for the smallest fish can pick up right where it left off last year. Combsey, you can come to, just weed out the dinks for me.

Man I would love to come, but I got family commitments. I will however be checking out some southern adirondack lakes near by.

Ah well some time this year. I think I will take a stroll around the Adirondacks and stop in at Wanakena...after Christmas dinner or lunch.

Sorry I put the dinks back to bite again.  Or they might have a hook in thier
back depending on where I am     My schedule this week is booked with.   Fishing.  Fishing. And. Oh yeah.  Fishing.    I seem to be people's good luck charm this year.

I bet Mr Allen would let you borrow the new warming shed for a shanty to use on Cranberry.

You don't need a warming shed on Cranberry. Just go to the Wildcliffe, set your tip-ups out front, and go inside and watch from the window.  ;)

Ok ok now that my arm is twisted behind my back. Raquett lake, long lake, Tupper lake, and canberry lake needs more time with just about 1 1/2" to 2" in places at best. The lakes also still have some open or nearly open spots to freeze up. When I stepped out the ice was good for ablittle ways then it got sketchy...and my dog didn't help matters. Some of the bays may be ready but I only checked the obvious locations so I could get back in time for the family Christmas thing. Please do not take my report as "it's safe to fish" because it needs more time and always test the ice for yourself. Be safe and Tight lines.

mind if I ask where in tupper lake did you check?
If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in northern New York

And what condition are the smaller lakes in?  I would not have bet on those bigger lakes being anything but "sketchy".  Don't want any specifics just general observations would be good.  ;D

Black Lake is doing pretty well and I'd be willing to bet some of the smaller bays might be close by next weekend  ;D

Two places. One onthe back side in a bay and the other was from the park by the old factory. It did not take too far for the ice to become thinner. I imagine it had just locked up. I didn't check any smaller lakes this time as I was short for time.

I it was about 3 inches right at shore but a little further out it gets wet and thinner. I was out on a lake near home and there was 3".
