guys been fishing it for over a week now.like dacker said sleds out there now.just remember that the inlet launch is closed to parking,so you have to park at town hall and drag up the hill or drag out from town hall, just have to be carefull there cause of the channel.

How were the sledheads able to get the fishermen kicked out of their boat launch?

Do you know what their plan is? Just curious, didn’t know if they were gonna fully pave it, new ramp etc etc

The plan...

https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/125961.html

Unfortunately - won’t be adding any real estate... will still be extremely narrow but for hard water season, unless completely full of sled trailers with folks using the trails, not bad at ‘tall...

Will be glad to see a paved ramp for sure and actual parking spots. That area is super narrow to the point where during a bass tournament we had to unhook trailers from the trucks or pick the trailers up to shift then over by hand to avoid hitting the fence or other parked cars. That ramp is always a pain

They’re doing it mostly for day users. The fishermen still won’t have any room… ;)

Access was pretty good from the campground on the west end yesterday. Plenty of ice, I didn’t measure but I’d say 10+. Probably 3-4 inches of snow on top, then about an inch of slush before the ice. Fishing was pretty slow. Caught more smelt than trout. No flags. But, ice conditions couldn’t have been better

Not exactly sure where that is, I was at the Alger island campground access and fished between that and the island

stayed at great pines lodge fished, in 35' got 4 lakers from 7 to 8 pounds. also, a dozen or so perch and some smelt. weather was fine Thursday, Friday morning was freaky, a little drizzle to start, set up the hut started putting in tip ups. then out of nowhere wind some gusts probably 50 mph ,trees blowing down on shore tip ups blowing out of holes across the ice for about 15 minutes then stopped as fast as it started. ice conditions were great no snow no slush 13" thick access a little tough due to a bubbler a couple hundred feet away. thanks to all for your reports

Are the perch worth eating out of forth? I heard about high mercury levels at one time. Just curious. Was thinking of fishing it.

I’ve ate quite a few perch and smelt out of 4th and my poop doesn’t glow in the dark (yet). I’d just shy away from the lakers.
