That's remarkable..
I love that..I'm hoping for a Grandbaby from my daughter in Harrisburg..
My son ice fishes and has a you tube for fishing ..he's single and is a manager for First Watch in McCandless Crossings .He can't seem to find a lady that likes what we like..🤷‍♀️
my fam eats there often,we live 5 or so minutes from there, its up the hill from north park lake which is barely skimmed in places :( its 43 degrees here and rainingggggggggggggggg gg  >:( we got more rain than snow so it goes?weather man got it wrong again.as for moraine/lake arthur my motto is "you cant dress for the lake in your drive way its always colder at the lake".so we need to wait and see if muddy creek tightens up.with the warm water influx who knows?uasually its cold water influx thats why it freezes first and frozen last, my opinion false news not fact checked.its now moving from first ice to midwinter doldrums, lots of fronts and jaw locking moons. oh well GOD is still on the throne amen.
GOD BLESS

Mostly snow all day up here until the afternoon.  Some sleet mixed in with the rain.  Who knows what the lake will look like, but I'll take a look tomorrow.

Arthur was high winds and waves this afternoon.  We lost some of our slush cap.  Snowing like a banshee when i left.

I actually used to work as a sever at the cranberry first watch for 12 years..I'm retired from that now..
My husband and I sold our place in Evans city..and moved 5 miles above I 80..
Love it up..rugged terrain and private 1/2 mile long driveway..on 15 acreas..
A cottage in the middle of the woods..plenty of wildlife..my kind of living.

We have 5 inches of snow up here right now..oil city rivet is open now..no more ice chunks. It would be nice if Conneaut lake froze over..
Sugar lake is small,..but freezes fast .

Salty, I've spent a lot of time in the woods near where you live now.  Great area...  My brother and I are looking to buy some property around there.

We have been here for 3 years now..we are up against state game lands..
I love it..the hunting is different though..I grew up on a dairy farm in Evans city..so used to open range..so now I'm in the middle of the woods..a whole new ballgame.

we hunted numerous dairy farms in evans city/zelienople area our fav was glen eden.we made friends with the farmers buying 1/2 gallon "glass" chocolate milk ice cold then off to hunt. this memory was pre urban sprawl.also fished hereford manor what a lake had every thing.

I really thought we were going to have ice soon, but based on the weather we had this weekend and what I see in the extended forecast, I’m starting to believe the people that were saying we aren’t going to get back on the water again this season.

I'm not sure either..
Every year We like to go ice fishing on the local lakes on valentine's Day. 2015..was a no go for fishing..my first year in Venago County was Justice lake. Looks like 2023 may be a no go for valentine's Day.😒

Never know what's going to happen... The weather "experts" change the forecast 5x times per day.  Just have to wait and see...

Your absolutely correct.
If things tighten up. We could have a couple weeks to fish..breath some fresh air and enjoy the moment. 😊

My dad is down on MC now. Haven’t got a report yet from him. I couldn’t make it today, but will be going tomorrow if it holds up. Good luck if you get out again.

Talked to a guy at the church and then a guy at McDanel, both said 3" of ice. Not enough for me. Hopefully after this coming warm up, it will get cold again.

I don’t ever remember 2 winters in a row where you only got 1 week of ice fishing. It may come back in February, but it certainly didn’t last year. Wonder if the fish commission would let you float your 5 tip-ups in inflatable rings and chase them by boat.  ;D

I'm pretty sure we were on the ice again in February last year, but just a few days worth.
