Title: Navionics help
Post by: SALMONEMIA on Jan 28, 2023, 07:34 AM
I recently got a new phone the navionics app is different looking.   Probably newer version. Can someone please tell me how and where to find and turn off community edits. ? The feature that will not share pins with everyone else publicly? Just making sure mine is off. Thanks

Do they make you pay yearly now?

For all the good information, yes. But the free one still gives you maps. Or at least line does, I didn't renew my subscription.

Protio: Google opinion rewards throws you a few cents for a small survey of your shopping habits. They're tracking you any, so you may as well let them pay you for spying on your location history. In a year, it can add up enough to pay for the Navionics subscription

I have not renewed my subscription still works the same for me I use it for pins and contours and trolling lines. Works fine as is. Not sure what benefits payed version has

The most notable difference after not paying the yearly subscription is the loss of satellite overlay. I could see weedbeds on some bodies of water which helped a lot fishing pans.

I am due to renew and no longer get contour lines on mine.  I did upgrade my phone so maybe that has something to do with it, but at the moment it’s of little value so I will have to spend the 24 bucks if I plan to use it.

Change the settings you probably have it to the less detailed view settings

I just checked my app and I still have lines, but my subscription expired a while ago  ???

So come to find out, while looking through the settings (thanks Wayne for the tip) - I did renew a while ago (I have another 200 days) - and have the US and Canada ($24.00) option. That said, I still can not find a setting to get the contour lines to show back up.
Phone shows I also have an expired US only ($15.00) version expired, so maybe there is some conflict.

I will have to dig into this further to find out what setting is wrong - because now that I have paid for it, it is even more frustrating it is not working.

Open app on bottom left of the screen. There's 3 circles click the one that had a square on the middle.  Open that and change to sonar view

I never knew about this setting, thanks!  MUCH better than the Navigation setting.

I was asked to renew the other day and didn't.  I can see the detailed depth lines.

Thanks Wayne.

I tried that setting and the one navigating through the menus and still not working.  Looks almost like it’s looking for a transducer (sounder).

Since my subscription is still active I will reach out to support.

Glad 2 help.  Haven't paid for a subscription in 2 years there is sum ting Wong.  In your settings. Turn off all features related to sonar etc. The app has Many features that are irrelevant to guys just Walking on ice. I stopped paying for additional features because I don't use them. Its prob something simple you should be able to get decent contour lines with the free version. I made no spelling errors above. That was on purpose.

After trying many things including resetting defaults , changing map options, etc. I reinstalled the app from the AppStore and was able to finally get things working. Something you might try if you have lost contour lines.

Thanks all, especially Wayne.

I've had the app about 10 years now, paid $10 and never paid a cent after that. I still get the same features as I did when I first got it. Not sure why but still works on the ice and in the salt. Lucky I guess?

This is why I pay the subscription every year, very useful on saltwater

And for freshwater this is why

Bottom hardness and boulders show pretty detailed for some lakes.
Cut my research time usually to at home stuff, no more running the fish finder back and forward looking for small rock piles and ledges

Wow when I had the paid version I still never looked for that kind of detail. That's huge!
