There was some shacks on black hawk yesterday. I haven’t checked but the ponds took a beating from the rain. Lots of open water south of hwy30.

I'm not sure but I will try to look for guys on the ice Friday and post back.  I was on a pond just a bit south of Lake View yesterday and it had around 4".

Buddy fished Blackhawk today. He said 5 inches  of soft ice off shotgun hill. Caught lots of small perch.

Is the term "Small Perch" code word for big walleye? lol Seems theres a lot of lakes with a small perch problem this year.

No. They’re small. The big ones are big if you can catch them.

Yeah, there's probably so many shad in Black Hawk now, the perch are given a break and more young are surviving.

Plenty of shad and small perch thats for sure. Did find some keeper perch though and one really nice one. There mustve been a pretty good shad kill though because there were dead shad in the ice all over.

That's good to know.  I'll be grabbing some for spring cats.
