IA 2020 Fishing License Question

Does anyone know if the 2020 Iowa fishing license that is on sale already valid right away or is it not valid until January 1?

As far as I know, they are good from the date of purchase to the expiration date (like Jan. 10, 2021). In other words, they don't offer them for sale before they can be used. But I don't work for the DNR

Usually go on sale 12/15 of the year before (2019 in this case) and are valid upon purchase. The expire 1/10, so 1/10/21 in this case.
