Favorite places to ice fish in Iowa, new places to try

Let's hear some of your favorite places to ice fish in Iowa or new places you want to try.

For me - my favorite are backwaters of the Mississippi. New place would be Lake Darling

I sure enjoyed the backwaters growing up. Always a nice group of the same people. As for now (moved to central Iowa) I really look forward to a trip north to Clear Lake. The variety there is great.

Looking forward to fishing the backwaters. I enjoy fishing Lake Darling as it is relatively close to home with some nice fish to be caught.

I will never share my favorite, but a close second is 12 mile. Some nice crappie in there.

Iowa Great Lakes. The fishing could be better but I always have a great time getting to know those lakes. Red Rock when they are hitting and when it has ok ice and the water isn’t chocolate milk. Not going to say my favorite one but most lakes have good enough fishing if you can take the time to figure them out.

My favorite is a small public pond that I won't disclose.  I'd like to try Storm Lake more this year.

Usually it would be Hickory Grove near Colo but due to renovation its a no go.  Their's about 5' of water left by the dam and the contractor is pumping it down another 4'.  Guess I'll be parked on a couple farm ponds.

Oldbear, have you tried Dakins much? I used to get decent gills there ,but havent tried it since it was stocked with eyes

i've heard there are some nice crappie in the long pond on the west side.  I won't mess around until we have some pretty good ice.
