BIG FISH

Grand Prize (1 for each day)
$1000.00

Second Place
$400.00

Third Place
$200.00

Fourth Place
$150.00

Brown Trout
$100.00

Rainbow Trout
$100.00

HOURLY BIG FISH
$100.00

these are the prizes posted for this year - it doesn't mention anything about other material prizes, except under the "youth" category where they can win a fishing rod and reel combo for second place and "fishing gear" for third.  it'd be sweet to get a new gas auger.

I don't think they limit what time you can go out on the ice but it's kind of "On Your Honor" that you don't start fishing till 7AM.

so that means you can have your holes drilled, all set up and ready to go to drop your lines in at 7?

You can be out there with your holes drilled all ready to fish as long as you are not fishing before 7:00.  Be sure to get to the parking lot early, it fills up pretty quickly and it is blue smoke mayhem in the morning and evening with all the old snowmobiles warming up.  Some people drop off their trailers the night before so you do not have to deal with parking in the morning.

It was -4 here in Pinedale this morning and now the wind is blowing about 25 miles an hour.  Forecast looks OK, at least on Sunday.  It seems that we usually get a final blast of bitter cold air for derby.

We fished Fremont last weekend, it was pretty slow compared to the other 2 times I have fished it this year.  3 of us landed 10 fish between 8:30 and 2:00, the biggest around 25".  We fished around Chambers Bay and some points near the inlet and at that time there was no overflow, but some weird bare ice in the middle of the lake.  Some years the overflow is heinous, and you can get wet and stuck if you are pulling a trailer.  The new snow we got this week might have changed the ice conditions however.

Good luck!

Wow!  That fish is actually pretty darned fat for a Fremont Lake fish.  Some of the fish that have won the derby were over 40" but less than 20 lbs.

A buddies dad caught a 23 lb fish last week as well, he is getting it mounted.  Those big fish are well on the other side of 30 years old, so you cannot expect too many like that!
