Whytie, forgot to mention you can also get past the ridge south of the “beach” if you bear toward the island. There was a safe crossing there last Friday.

After this storm, thanks to anyone cleaning the way on to the lake. It's going to be tough digging out shacks this weekend.
When I'm done drillin' - all that's left is an 8 inch wide, moist, dark hole that smells fishy......

This isn't first hand knowledge but I got it from a source who lives at Etters Beach. Several flipped and damaged shacks in the Etters area and at Henderson's. Said there were camper conversion shacks "With their wheels in the air". Some shacks that were frozen in really well were fine. My Dad's little 6'x8' shack that was frozen in and right in the bay at Henderson's survived.

Can anybody report about shacks at Alice Beach? Are any damaged or flipped?

I left my enclosed in the bay. Hope she’s good to go and not on it’s side. Lol

I have been out to Island View, Rowans, and  Collingwood and have been on top of 12-16 inches of ice at depths of 30 ft to 12 ft.
The ice is plenty thick almost as thick as my brain other than 1 decent Wally all I’ve managed to do is inflame my hemorrhoids.
As always use common sense, when in doubt walk on.
Best of Luck 😬👍👍

on at IslandView again today
Fished all the way from 30ft-18ft... slow afternoon caught a couple small eyes that came up gently and back down again to grow up some. Decided to pack up and head to Rowans for the last bit.....fished 10-12 ft managed to do slightly better. Seen lots on the camera just casually swimming by staring at baits and doing everything except taking a hook. No issues getting on. Ice is getting THICK have a feeling I’m going to need an extension in another month....going to have to find one or buy one. As it is my StingRay blade is getting to about 3/4 up the shaft before finding water...pretty impressive. Now if the fish would stop making me look stupid all would be right with the world.

Be safe everyone.😬👍

Looking to head out for an overnight camp this on the 23/24. Went around rowans, white rock area on the 9th and it was slooooow. Marking lots but only caught one baby walleye and a burbot in 14 hours. Is it better ANYWHERE else on the lake? Heard rumours etters was doing good but can’t really confirm it. Would like to get on some fish if we’re going to spend the night.

I heard some guys had water coming through the unfrozen holes in their shacks during that wind storm and making a mess of their shacks, also seen some good pools of water refrozen on top of the ice.. would this have been from the pressure of the ice with the windstorm?

Mac pheat area had tons of water on the ice,  buddies shack was flooded as well. Combination of the wind and big snow drifts around the shacks

Has anyone been on at midway lately? Can you easily get on the ice there? Hoping to venture out Friday.

I was there last Tuesday before the windstorm.  At that time access was good and only 4" of snowcover all over.  Fishing was dead in 23-30' though however there are lots of suspended ciscoes 5' off the bottom.  Not sure how the snowdrifts have affected access now, however.

Hey guys, I’m planning to head out to Last Mountain for the first time this weekend. I’m planning to stay at the hotel in Liberty, looking for some advice on where to fish. Not asking for anyone’s secret spots, just a general idea of where to park and and access the ice. As I said I will be coming from Liberty, so looking at maps I should aim for somewhere around the Triple T and/or Etters beach? If anything I would like to know how to get closest to the lake in those areas as I won’t be driving on unfamiliar ice. Planning to park my truck and pull a sled out on foot. Thanks in advance!

If you go to triple t you will see lots of truck and shacks east of mouth.   Guys been driving on main lake since late dec.
Ice is 14 to 15 inches where i have been at the 30 to 35 ft depths.

6 hours and eked out 2 walleye and a cisco today at Alice Beach.  Perch, walleye and ciscoes made appearances on the flasher and camera but for the most part in a negative mood.  A perch sucked in a minnow head off the bottom, tasted it then spit it out like a pea shooter.  That pretty much says it all.

Anyone tried a nite fish on LML, and did you have any luck thinking of trying one later in the week when warmer.

I fished at night few times. Sometimes the burbot action is great. Full moon can be good. Also a chance at walleye.

Looking at doing some evening and night fishing as well over the weekend but having a hard time choosing where I want to go out of 3 possibilities...Sarnia, Midway and Triple T.  Anyone have any suggestions to push me to one of them over the others?
Thanks in advance! 😀

Heading out to the mountain tomorrow for the first time in 10 years (okay, only 2 weeks but it feels like an eternity) hoping to get on some mid day perch. Looking forward to having a calmer day out on the ice and not having to worry about getting blown away. Good luck to everyone getting out this weekend, tight lines

He guys, I’m a resident out at Canyon Beach, just figured I’d give everyone a heads up that a truck broke through this morning straight out from the cabins in 20’ of water. All 4 tires broke through and truck was sitting on the frame. Another resident was able to run out with his half ton and get him out. My shack is in that area and the ice is 20” as of yesterday. Be careful out there guys, this ice this year is a bit different than past years! Stay on the topside everyone

Thanks Ozzie , and just for the ones that aren't all that familiar with Long Lake Canyon resort is on the east side of LML pretty much staright across from
Triple T and Big Arm areas. I believe the Duval grid takes you to the Resort. Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Last weekend south of Sarnia by the Island which is across from Rowans and Island View we only had 21"-22" of ice. So for February that's not overly thick. Yes be safe out there every one.

There must be a reason a truck went through in that area though isn't there? 20" of ice is plenty for driving..? IM not overly familiar with the lake, im aware of the common areas to avoid but this seams like a pretty safe spot to be cruising isn't is?

North east about 200 feet. It was just off the blown in trail that used to be there. I think the ice is like Swiss cheese there in all honesty. There were a lot of holes drilled around there in December. Seemed to be the place for everyone to go.
