Using the same equipment from 20 to 30 years ago a Diawa ultra lite gold  taped on an Eagleclaw rod tip,a 5" old Jiffy hand auger and a 6 gallon bucket with a Rinehart quarter bucket seat  and some newer metals with some homemade rapalas thrown in. Made a couple sleds in the past and used a flasher but like to keep it simple and travel light now a days.
YO!!! Give a local fellow a chance!!!

I have 2 poles that are over 50years old and I still use them. Now I make my own poles. My son and I got a new gas auger this last year, just to make it a little eraser to fish. I still have some of the old jigs that I used in the 1960s,but the paint is falling off of them now.We have a camera, but I won that ,and it work's great. Keep an open mind, new stuff isn't so bad.   Jerry

FatFish... My spoon auger is my backup.

JoeJ.. Good luck finding one new...lol. I think they stopped making them decades ago. Not sure why because they do work great for opening old ice holes in a permanent shack. Finding a used one is a challenge as well. Not sure if Ebay has any listed, but I always keep an eye open at garage sales and flea markets for that old stuff like spoon augers.

I may be old, but i'm not stupid. Sitting in a portable shack with a heater beats heck outa sitting on a bucket in a cold wind. And a power auger REALLY beats hell out of a spud. I go fishing to fish, not work. Also, with flashers and cameras, I not fishing over a dead hole. I've got a lot of old equipment, but thats cause I'm CHEAP. ;D ;D ;D
The river goes on forever and the fishing never ends.........

Started out with cheapo stuff but now that I'm a little older I can afford to buy better @) stuff. No electronics either and seem to do just as good. I can drill and move with the best of them.

My dad is old school only uses The "Schooley" type rods and reels and hands my butt to me everytime except for when we are fishing 30-40 foot in the perch hole then with my spinning reel and custom rod I can kick his hind end but he still keeps close even without a vex... Hows he do it? Doesn't matter though I just love getting out there with my old man.
