I was wondering if there is a way you can make your own ice scoop?

You already know how to make one BEFORE acquiring the equipment to do so.

Much easier to make a few bucks and buy it.

If you're a purest wanting to make all your accessories, beginning with something you can be proud of, try a simple rod holder.    ;)2

Take a dowl and attach it to a soup can that has  holes drilled in the bottom.

I have purchased several scoops over the years and manage to break everyone trying to knock open holes....several years ago I cut a 8 inch round circle out of an aluminum running board and a section of an old lawn mower handle and wa-la...one bolt and drilled a few 1/4 inch holes and it looks like a store bought model on roids....I can chop the holes back open to original 8 "

Sure, just borrow your mother's strainer-ladle (but don't tell her that you did or what it was used for!)
