jack trap spool greese

Got some good use out of my new jack traps I  noticed they oozed out a lot of grease from the spools, still feel smooth. is this normal with the new traps? maybe they fill them right up at the shop,? is this normal?

I never noticed any oozing with mine, but it's been years since they were new.
I'm sure they fill them right up at the shop.
I'd just wipe that grease off with a rag and carry on.

Got mine around the same time as you right after xmas... No grease coming out of my spool shafts, don't think it would concern me if it did though.

I have a bunch of Jack's bought over several years. Some have more grease than others. I prefer them full to keep the water out. I repacked them all 2 years ago and that's how they all are now.
White lithium is the recommended grease, fyi. I got it at Pep Boys and use a "chainsaw" grease gun.

Jack traps use Shell Gadus red lithium grease, it is rated for minus 30

Wouldn't marine grease b  better it won't freeze and isn't water souluable  ?

No...she'll Gadus is rated for minus 30..marine grease gets very stiff at temps below 32 ..there are many suitable greases,  I personally use Mobile SCH 007, synthetic grease that is a  grease that we use in the grease pumps of our CNC milling machines, it remains pour able in cold and also is unaffected by water, there are many,many types of greade, I don't have time to explain it here.
