Title: Long Lake Derby
Post by: icewoman on Oct 24, 2021, 07:00 PM
Hello everyone,  Looking for some information about this area.
I've never fished Long Lake or been in that area, wondering where
most people sleep, are there motels or do most people spend the weekend on the ice??
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Signature line says Bridgton, do you live in Bridgton or live someplace else and visit Bridgton because if you live there then.....

Hotels/Motels - like everywhere the closer you get to Windam/Oxford/Fryberg (big city?) the nicer the hotels but the longer the drive, yes reserve now or do a B&B
Bait store - some self serve (Rt38) , some order, I suggest something w/ minimal storage & plenty of aeration/Ph (trips wast time, temp changes)
Where - there are three boat ramps if your walking (Naples (very busy), Bridgton (50%), Harrison (35%)),  suggest Harrison & fish off the point, or near bridge
And then there's  Sebago, but IMO you need transportation for that.

I suggest a visit to the area (check it out) and get your license even though the derby  (which derby?) is free fishing weekend, i.e. near end of Feb.

Hope this helps and good luck

I'm pretty sure she is asking about Long Lake in St. Agatha, not Long Lake in Bridgeton. There are a couple places on the lake. One is in St A, the other is at the other end of the lake in Sinclair. Other than those two you might have to stay in Madawaska. As Jrelaxin said you should make your reservation now. Snowmobilers can fill every available bed in the area on winter weekends. The derby only adds to the demand for lodging for that week.

Don’t stay in Bridgeton, it’s 5 hours away. There’s long lake motor inn, lake side lodge, 4 seasons, gateway motel, long lake camps, and probably a few more camps in the area. If you stay on the ice, come prepared. LLSC use to host the event but has recently closed. They will probably reopen for snowmobiling season IMHO. There are places in Fort Kent and Eagle lake as well. Good luck.
