Need help on a suit
« on: Dec 04, 2012, 06:30 PM »
So I am going to make the jump on a suit

I feel like most of the suits are fine but I have some draw backs as I see them

The clam grey I like if but it is the most expensive so if I am indifferent then why then extra money?

Frabill Black suit I like this suit but I hate the big frabill logo on the back

The rapala suit looks great but it looks light and not enough insulation

So what should I do?

I'm in the same boat as you. From what I have been reading I'm leaning towards the Artic Armour suit. Seems like a lot of people like them.

I just bought a Striker Hardwater suit.  I like it very much.

I like the looks and features of the rapala suit. If your worried about not enough insulation just get it an extra size bigger and add another layer.

The frabill suits are nice, atleast the logo you don't like is on the back where you don't have to see it.

Sorry I ment to put up that the Frabill and the Rapala suits are close in price however I found the rapala jacket like a bomber and the Frabil longer

The grey Extreme suit by Clam is the ticket.  Seems like they are everywhee on the ice here in sask  now.  Worth every penny . I wasnt the first guy to get one here, but I am in with the Grey crowd now. Just wish I did it last year.

Bought the guide gear parka and bibs last year from sportsmans guide. Paid $100 for suit. Jacket is the same as grey ice armor. Bibs are the same as blue ice armor. Very happy with them. I'm 5'11 180 pounds and ordered large in both.

Striker floating suit, I got the Striker Lite floating suit last year and i love it plenty of pockets, quality was great it has held up well.  The lite was plenty warm for me but i only fished in temps down to the low teen last year.  Some of the features I liked were the pit vents to help regulate heat, also I like the full length leg zippers in the bibs for easy on and off even with boots on, also the adjustable length of the bibs is a nice feature.  The Striker suits are definitely worth checkin out.
