Life span of a auger battery in storage ?

I see on some electric augers they sell you , they give you two batteries ,like on the Ion gen 3.

Let say you just use the one for the first 3 -5 years  and placed the second one away in storage for all those years . Now after 5 years of sitting do you think that new one that you never placed a charge on will have a normal 5 year life span as the first one ?

Found out your spare battery should be good for 10 years if not in use .
