In the meantime, having tried my reg sharpening stone as well as emery paper, I have tried these. They came in a bundle from Amazon for about 50 cents each and seem to work fairly well. Mine were 120/240 and I just used the 240 side,  But I will look at the suggestions you have offered as those nail files wear out fairly quickly. So thx for your comments..
