home base (lake county)
« on: Dec 24, 2013, 10:03 AM »
12-21-13

fished from 8am-2pm

mild temps and wet air, no surprise a wintry mix was on its way later in the day.

we setup up camp on a community hole and spent the day fishing 8 foot bottom with lot weeds

the dense cabbage made electronics virtually useless

all they could tell you is when you finally made it into the weeds

fishing was slow but the gills and crappies were at least all of decent size

high noon my buddy set on something big

jigging for pans with a rat finkee and a waxie he lands a (rare to us) lake county walleye

in the middle of 30 groups of people, we caught, photoed, and released that fish with out making a noise

slow day but quality fish

the other shanty of friends we came with did fair better on the panfish

we still managed a few quality keepers

biggest gill in the photo made 9.5

was that on the chain?

How thick is that ice, is it pushing 10" already?

nice catch BTW, those fish look really dark.

Not the chain but it's close

Ice conditions were 4 inches of ice with two inches if slush on top of that with another 2 inches of ice on that. I think after all this cold weather that it will end up being close to ten inches...

Thanks both of you

took the kidos out in my subdivision

plenty of undersized gills present

tried to convince them to cull some fish out of there but neither went for it
