Lake contour maps?
« on: Jan 02, 2013, 11:27 AM »
Anybody know where a fella can aquire contour maps of Magic, Cascade or CJ Strike?  When I lived in North Dakota Fish and Game had them online for all the lakes in the state, it was the most valuable tool I can think of for hard water fishing.

Finally found one for CJ Strike.  Still on the search for Magic and Cascade.  http://www.omnimap.com/catalog/cats/fish/fish-id.htm

I got my contour map of Cj and Cascade from the Fish n Map Company. They are made out of waterproof plastic and are pretty accurate.

Not to hijack this topic, but is hard water fishing typically decent at Strike? Don't hear much about it compared to Magic and Cascade.

I have only seen fishable ice on CJ a few times and its usually only in certain areas.  Black sands marina, Cove Rec, Cove Arm Cottonwood and Crane falls.  If you venture out be super duper careful.  Lots of currents and such in that lake and the ice will go from 8" to 1/2" in less than a step.

I got mine at Tackle Tom's, but they have them at Sportsmans and Cabelas too.  I scanned them and overlaid the images in Google Earth to get GPS points.  Works pretty good.

I found a bureau of reclamation report that had a map in it.  I cropped it out, saved it as a jpeg, and overlaid it in google earth.
