Good morning had a light frost over night and now some fog. There is some gremlin/gremlins in my computer and phone equipment. the service to both went out again after i posted here yesterday. So I'm waiting for a phone call from service tech. to see what time they are coming today. Going to replace the modem and TV cable box as both are older equipment and from old cable service that merged or was bought out by my current provider. Hopefully that solves the problem.
Whopper Stopper glad you had a safe trip home may you see more deer activity when you return to the shack. Have you given any thought to a satellite phone since cell phone service is hit or miss at the shack.
IFF happy birthday wishes sent for your grandson. Nice present from you. Congratulations on walking out of the casino on the plus side.. Have a good trip to your brother's.
Drifter sorry you will not get one more trip out in your boat this year. Good to hear the sled started up with no problems.
Ice Wanderermay the deer be more active on your next hunt. Yesterday was a nice Fall day hope the weather guessers are wrong and this week will not be a wash out with rain every day.
Wallyworld smart idea getting the leaves up while they are dry. I'm also wondering what will we will see after Halloween and all the trick or treating.
Old Goat may you finish the dryer vent without any problems.
Hunts2long Glad your wife's cousins arrived safely and their trip was not to long even with the GPS detour. that young lady harvested a nice buck. Best to you and your team tonight.
Eddie hope you had a good day of fishing.

Stay safe and have a good Sunday. Best to all fishing and hunting. 9may this post work)

Spent 2 hours out in my shelter but didn't do any work on the sled.
Put a new end wall on the shelter (door end) so I can get it closed up. Last year I left it open and that was a bit of a mistake. Tightened up the covers on the two connected 10X20's that houses my sled and boat.
I replaced the back cover this past spring but the front one needs replacing after this winter. It's starting to tear and rot with age.

Back's sore now so will do the clutch next weekend. ;)

Good luck at the shack Marv.
Wish I was still at mine.

Good Morning Everyone,
Sign me up for losing 2 posts in one day yesterday, that was frustrating!    :%$#!:
Cloudy and 46 this am, high of 56 today.

Marv...safe travels back to the shack,  I've got my $$ on you this round with one of those big bucks showing up....best of luck!
Bud...Happy BIrthday to your grandson,  great gift with the Ugly Stik combo.
Steve. ..hope the new modem and box solve the problems.
Dave. ..sorry to read about the recent Covid cases,  hopefully they can keep that under control.   :%$#!
Hope your back is feeling better today Sir.
Jeff...congrats on getting out for the opener Saturday!  Wishing you the best of luck filling that tag soon!   Heard one shot up in Pulaski Saturday morning.
Wally. ..best of luck to Mr.WW if he's hunting!  I beeped going through Rome again Saturday. ..same place,  the old Indian motorcycle shop.    ;D
H2...hope you and the team swept up the lanes last evening!

Thanks for all the fishing wishes everyone,  they came through for us!     We all caught are share and had a great time. Unfortunately my son Mike couldn't make the trip so two of my youngest sons buddy's joined us.
Going to make one more trip back this weekend,  one last ride for bragging rights,  lol,  just the 3 of us.
Saw some really nice Steelheads taken,  that would be a great finale wrapping up this last trip.
Received a message from the nursing home that a staff member came up positive on testing. Keeping a close eye on that, only window visits allowed now for the next 14 days. That blew my visitation for next week.  Will keep you posted.  :%$#!:
Back to the marble again today. ..Cawfee's on!
Have a great day all, be safe,  best of luck to those fishing & hunting!

mr.clean we looked into the satellite phone, you are right it could be very important, we are talking about them again.

I am going to wait until daylight then start loading. I was going to go back tomorrow but they are talking about 4" of snow by Tuesday night at the shack so I want to be in my stand, it can't hurt. I will check in when I can.

Wishing everyone a good week  Stay safe and healthy.

Morning all,

WS.....good luck sir, fingers crossed the snow event gets things moving  ;)2

Eddie.....thoughts and prayers to all at your Mom's home  :(  congrats on a great day catching     you're about 10 miles northwest of us at the Indian shop  ;)

IW......that wind was crazy   at least it blew the latest round of leaves up in a pile of sorts  ;D

MrC.....I'm surprised you actually have a tech coming to replace the modem and box  :o  when mine needed updating I had to go to their store, exchange them and reinstall them myself  ::)

H2L.....hope your team moved back into 1st place last night  :flex:  safe travels to the city tomorrow  :)

IFF.....hope the wildfires aren't near your neighborhood, scary scenes on the news last night  :pinch:

Drifter.....easy does it with the back sir, like WS you're not 18 any longer either  :nono:    :roflmao:

Got the leaves chopped, well at least what was already on the ground before the wind kicked up and blew the next round down   ::)

Have a good day. Stay safe, stay healthy.

32* now and will climb to around 73, more wind is not going to help put down more wild fires though.  Hear one fire has scorched over 203,000 acres causing more evacuations.  :o

OG you noticed the base running problem too huh LOL, Must not have gotten any memo's on the subject, see them run themselves out of bases loaded no outs situation last night. :roflmao:

think its going to be a busy day for me need to get packed, and remember to cover all the bases so to speak. ;)

Hope every has a better day and week ahead.

48* and some rain moving in later today.
Eddie, CONGRATS on a good weekend on the river. Thoughts are with your Mom and all those at the nursing home.
WS, good luck this week.
IW, my brother said he heard some shots over the weekend.
We took all 4 points last night. I didn't bowl all that well, but I guess that is why it is a team sport. I did have 2 strikes in the tenth frame to pull out one game.

WW, pretty good wind here yesterday. A lot of leaves came down.
Have a good day and stay well....h2l

Lindsay and Rocky came up yesterday. She fixed dinner for the wife last night. Today is the wife's Birthday.

Good morning cloudy and calm outside currently looks like I might see some rain. Hopefully I finish this post before more internet service goes down again never received a phone call yesterday giving them a couple more hours then will call and schedule appointment.
Eddie congratulations to your son his friends and you on the fishing.   Sorry to hear about the staff member at your mom's nursing home may they get things under control so family visits can start up once things settle.
Whopper Stopper may this be the week your harvest a buck the snow will at least give you better knowledge of deer activity by your stand and make for easier tracking. I'm sending you a PM there is backpacker who like you has a You Tube channel he use a locator beacon/messaging device called Spot to keep his wife informed of his location when he ends each day of hiking and starts again the next day.
Ice Wanderer seems like Nature likes to play with us when it comes to the leaf clean up you get your property looking good and along comes the wind bringing down more leaves. Best to you with any hunting this week.
Wallyworld I may have to pick up the Cable box/modem and do the install myself see what I'm told today. My concern is more with hooking up the modem as now my provider has a modem and separate router . Hopefully most of your leaves have fallen and you will not be repeating the yard clean up to many more times.
Drifter it has been a rough year for you with the medical problems. rest your back when possible so you are able to get to Edmonton for the injections which hopefully makes your back feel better.
IFF have a good and safe trip.
Hunts2long happy Birthday to your wife.  The background in the photo of your wife and her cousins looks like my area some trees are bare other hhave leaves with changing color and stillsome with green leaves. Good job by your team pulling together and picking up the 4 points last night.

Stay safe and have a good Monday. Best to all fishing and hunting.

Good afternoon everyone!

I made it to the shack with no problems. I had a couple things to do with the stands and found a tree across the trail that I had to take care of.

There is a light misty snow falling, I hope the deer are moving.

Mr.clean I sent 2 PM's but I don't think they went. Thank you for the time you spent sending me the information on the satellite phones, I will look at it tonight.

Hope everyone has a good evening. Stay safe and healthy.

Good evening ,Whopper Stopper I had my computer and TV disconnected this afternoon went and picked up new Cable box, modem and  WiFi router. I followed the instruction sheets put currently only can get computer to work. when I try to use my service provider's self installation website to activate the cable box I have problem's logging into my account. They still have my father's Emaill from two cable services ago as an active Email and sent my verification code to the address I'm not sure how to access that old Email address. The Spot Gen3 Gps Tracker is a combination locator /emergency beacon/Gps tracker. Believe you enter soft ware onto your computer and then use the Spot unit to send a message to the computer showing your Gps location. You can not talk like a Satellite phone. When you watch the video things will be better explained.
Good to hear you arrived safely at the shack assume you have a chainsaw with you to clear the tree from the trail.
 Have a good night.

              Good morning Eddie, ER's,
It's 52* and light rain falling as I post. ::)
Eddie.........Have a good work day, I hope the showers expected doesn't hinder your work. ??? You would think that the nursing home
would at least take everyone coming in temperature. I hope your mother has not been in close contact with that person.
Marv..........Good luck out in your stand today. A guy that has a camp near us in Maine has a satellite phone, it works
real well. not sure of the cost.
Steve.........I hope you can get your cable up and running. It seems that these providers think the average person is a tech. :o
H2l............Good to hear your team did well, there is no "I" in team. :flex:
The rain has picked up, I can hear it on the new roof.

Good Morning ER's 30* here going up to upper 40's later. Mason can you send your mailing address etc. I can't find it here. I'd like to get the line to you before ice hits. Good luck to those hunting/fishing. Have the new venting in to where it comes up through the floor and hit a snag ( water pipe keeping things just off to the left of where it needs to be) might have to get the sledge hammer out to open up hole in cement slab a bit more. Fingers crossed. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone!

28 getting to 34 later with snow expected by mid morning.

Just having a cup of coffee before heading out.

Yesterday I saw 6 total, none within range. The highlight was a doe with 2 young ones followed by a real bruiser. He looked to be a solid 10 or 12pt. Unfortunately he was some 80 yards away.

Hope you all have a good day.

Stay safe and healthy.

35* to start the day. A little better than the 31* yesterday. Cold and rain guessed for the rest of the week.

Modify so I do not lose anther post ;)

IW  A guy said he could not figure out why a doe with two fawns stayed on alert while the fawns fed in a food plot. He figured out why when he walked back to his camp. The  doe was hearing acorns dropping on the metal roof on his camp. I put rubber on the roofs of my blinds as they are both under oak trees for that reason.

Mr C We have the Geek Squad. They think we are all geeks and can figure out what they are talking about. Why would we be calling them if we were geeks like them.

H2L Happy Belated Birthday to your wife.

ww That apple cake sounds good. I stopped at my friends to pick up apples for sauce the other day. There was a great article published about his farm a while back. I was friends with his parents before his dad passed away from cancer. I have been getting apples from them for years.

Marv Maybe you can get an air powered bow legalized so you can shoot that far. They just leaglized them in Michigan. I have no clue how they work. My son has pictures of a nice buck on the property plus a few smaller ones. Hopefully they do not move to the corn fields when the corn gets taken down like last year.

My work at the other place only lasted one day instead of 2. One day of working one fire wood was all the body could take. I never fired  up the saw. I put what need to be cut on a pallet and covered it up. Leaf blowing is on hold as I am putting 4 foot fence on the old dog run. The pup has found out she can jump over the 3 foot fence on the other run.

Good day overcast sky so far only a light mist. I exchange my equipment yesterday for a new cable TV box, modem and WIFI router followed the instructions sheets and was able to get the computer running went to my service provider's website and looked under self installation and followed the steps to get my activation code. That is where I had a problem could not get into my account finally reached a page telling me they had sent the activation code to an old Email address that was in my father's name. I spent around twenty minutes on my cell phone last night with a person from tech.support we were able to get the phone service working. So now I have to work on getting the TV service. So far everyone I have dealt with has been very patient as we try to get things figured out and the equipment up and running. Took the GMC for service this morning need one of the tire pressure sensors replaced now it looks like another tire pressure sensor in not working properly. Also having the tires rotated and oil/oill filter change. Some excitement here at my complex one building had no hot water and heat over night as the plumber was waiting for delivery of part needed to complete repair also some type of water related problem in another building guess it is par for the course in 55 year old buildings.
Eddie hope you are able to get a full day in on the marble work. May no one else at your mom's nursing home test positive for Covid-19.
Ice Wanderer I hope your wife likes the sound of rain and ice/sleet hitting a metal roof it can get quite noisy during heavy down pours.
Whopper Stopper may that 10-12 point buck come closer to your stand what is your comfortable shooting range with the bow. may the snow not make for a miserable day in the stand.
Wallyworld good you got the leaves up before the heavy rains. That apple cake look great. When does Mr.WW leave for your hunting camp.
Hunts2long may you have a problem free trip to and from NYC. Hope your wife has a good check up.
TomTurkey good thinking on the rubber roofing for your deer stands. Thankfully so far every Tech.Support person I've dealt with has been patient as they tried to help me resolve my problems. Sophie must keep you and your wife running with all of her energy.
OldSailor hope you are doing well and starting to see some improvement with your leg.
Icefisher-45 may this be a good week for you. may your wife test results show no signs of cancer.
Capt.Jim may you be settled into your new home, learning the area and having fun with the grandchildren.

everyone have a good day stay safe and healthy. Best to all fishing and hunting.

Look at Garmin's In-Reach units for communication.
My buddy has been using one for several years as he is an outdoor journalist that makes most of his living going to fly-in destinations way off the grid. He sends updates while he is still there.

Good Evening cloudy overcast sky all day but no rain. Whopper Stopper thank you for the reply another question for you do you use a trigger release or just your hand.
Tomturkey I found a couple videos on the air bows interesting concept I can see another fight coming here in NY. if they try to legelize them for hunting. We went through a big challenge from traditional archery hunters to get crossbows legalized for hunting. I can see crossbows and air bows being helpful to hunters with a disability that makes it hard for them to draw and hold traditional archery long bows ,recurve or even the modern compound bows.
Drifter the Garmin unit appears to have some similar features to the Spot Messenger unit I mentioned to Whopper Stopper. I think either device would be cheaper then a satellite phone which i think retail for over a thousand dollars here in the U.S. . I hope your back is felling better.

I'm still without TV service tried getting an activation code today some problem on the service provider's end needs to be resloved in my area before they can send a code.
Have a good night everyone.

Good evening everyone!

A long cold day on the ladder stand. Around 1pm the snow rain started. By 3 it was coming down pretty good. Looking at the trees and woodshed it looks like 5".

All the anticipation of deer movement went out the window. I didn't even see much for tracks walking the half mile back.

I have to make a laundromat run, grab something to eat then hit the hay. This wet cold crap stiffened me up, I feel like a rusted up Tin Man from Oz.

Hopefully tomorrow the deer will move.

Thanks for the link Dave, I will check it out.

Hope everyone is dry and having a good evening.  Stay safe and healthy.

Had a pretty decent day on the marble yesterday. One light shower early in the am, but aside from that just some strong winds to deal with.
Latest message from the nursing home showing no new cases reported and the staff members position who tested positive was not in any area with the residents. ..thankfully.
Time to get ready for 8 more..Cawfee's on!
Have a great day all, be safe,  best of luck to those fishing & hunting!
