Title: Walleye
Post by: SalmonAndStriper Stalker on Mar 15, 2019, 09:35 PM
How should I rig a tilt for walleye? Light line and a smaller hook and a smaller sized shiner? Never targeted them. I normally run 25lb floro with a 1/0 octopus hook for everything I fish for (basically bass and pike) and didn't know if I should change it up for walleye if they are line shy or something.

I dont target them but id say 8-12lb flouro with a size 4 hook and at least a 8-10' leader. Med shiner. Thats how i would go about it for a keeper.

25# and a 1/0 will work.  Mike's rig will do it too.  My buddy does 25# and a small treble.

My biggest walleye came while targeting pike with 50 lb flouro and a 4/0 octopus. When targeting walleye I've had luck with the rig you described but I used 15 lb flouro. I think 25 would be fine but wouldn't hurt to go a bit lighter.

My only walleye came on champlain on a Lindy slick jig 1/16oz perch pattern on 4lb test tipped with a rosey red. Battle royal ctown 1 , walleye 0.
