Are the trout active in march or is it their slow down time, seems like lots of people did well in january and february. But seems to kinda have tapered off.

For those catching Burbot what depth are you finding them at this time? We were going out in January and February in Coteau bay and were finding them in deeper water, usually around 25 - 30 feet  however I never went out in March before, not sure if they are shallow now.

I only found 1 or 2 at 25 - 35 feet during the day recently as well as last year. They could be deeper but I have never tried any deeper. I also found odd ones at 15 - 25 feet after sunset. They could be shallower at night as I barely tried less than 15 feet.

Burbot at sunset in Coteau Bay. Fished 2:30 To 8:30 pm today. A few nibble from perch. Slow.

Walter really came to play today. A slow afternoon turned hot around 3:00. We found ourselves on top of a school of willing walleye. Even a few trout showed up just for variety. Great company, great moose burgers, great weather, and no complaining about slow fishing.

Fished the evening at Coteau Bay on Saturday as well, i have heard of very active burbot in March. Well, they were not in the bay last night! Landed two burbot after dark and that was it. Tried water from 7 feet to about 25. Done for the year.

The two burbot we caught last weekend were in ten to twelve feet of water and in the middle of the day. They both took smelt on the tip-up and the bigger one didn't even trip the flag. I went to go clean the ice out of the hole and it was on the tip-up.

Caught 4 burbot and 1 perch, 37 ft, just off Elbow marina on Saturday.  Fish active but would not commit till dusk, got very active then died down after dark.  Lost a few too.

Tried the afternoon today hoping to catch a few before the weekend weather arrives. There were not many bites between 1:00 and 6:00. We fished shallow and deep. Eight F.O.W. produced a rainbow and walleye. 36 F.O.W. yielded a perch and three walleye, including a 23 incher. A real Dark Marbleye. Had a second shallow rainbow not escaped at the hole, it would have been a coin toss to say which depth was more productive today. More marks in the deep water, but these were mainly window shoppers.

Wrapped things up today with a slow day on the big lake. It felt a lot more like January than March with the wind, so we sat in the tents and hoped they came to us. Four small walleye and one fat perch caught on an evening bite.

Happy trails.

One each of whitefish, walleye and pike in 11 hours yesterday at Danielson Park. Hundred of whitefish were in 12 feet of water but not biting except for the one at 1st drop of lure. It's cold.

Yesterday was another disappointing day for the 3 of us. One perch, one jack, and one walleye that didnt  make it out of the hole. All in all, it was a disappointing season out on the perch flats SW of Danielson launch. This has been the worst season in 5 years, as the perch were not there in the numbers of previous years. Looking for a return to better fishing next season. As for this season, my friends and me are not done as we are heading up to Sealy for some spring trout through the ice. No hurry though as the cold is going to hang around a while longer.     Flyboy
The worst day fishing is better than the best day at......heck! you guys already know that!

Just a friendly tip that Sealey is not safe to sled on along with a lot of other lakes in the area. Stick close to the launch - good luck.
