I bought a new Eskimo wide shanty for this season which is awesome but has a really low roof that doesn’t allow for much of a hook set so maybe that’s why I had trouble not burying the hooks in them like I usually could. I only have about 3’ of clearance from my resting hand position to the roof.
lol. I’m with you KP. I hook a fish and right to the top it goes. I lose more screwing around with them than snapping the line
I snapped 2 rods last year, never snapped one previously, which is why I went to the MH after KPs recommendation. I try to keep the tip down but I also catch myself watching the graph instead of my rod tip once the fish is on the bait. I’m a terrible multi-tasker. This shanty will help train me to reel down instead of lifting
I run 6# mainline to 8# flouro leader on Oneida Lake. Very uncommon for me to break line. However, I have snapped rods in the past on hook sets. The 13 fishing Wicked 31” MH rods have performed great for me so far.
hahahaha you ain’t kidding when you say if they don’t come up cross eyed you ain’t doin it right! I run 6# line as well no leader though. Gonna have to give it a try I guess. I’ll let ya know when I snap my first rod on a hook set lmao
Freddie, when you set the hook, the fish are already fileted and packaged for the freezer!!! 😂
I add a small micro swivel between the mainline and leader. It helps eliminate line twist.
Thanks Mbart that’s a great price KP I have a question you have both the the original ones with cork how are the new handles , as my line up are all old with cork
morning all you goons good luck today and stay on top ill be out there somewhere lol
just came off ice ok bite, lil water on top from rain top was still hard however IF i go it tmrw, depends if the top stays solid , ill guess it will be it for me thurs temp with rain and friday temp i think will destroy shore lines and get the top soft and im only on 5 to 6in so if the top two inches are soft its an issue
