Fin-bor III
« on: Dec 22, 2003, 05:51 PM »
Hi all just got a new fin-bor III and I was just wondering if it will be difficult to adjust to the offset handle? I am used to using a swede bore and at first the new handle feels weird. I have yet to drill a hole with it but hopefully this weekend. any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thx in advance!

You just bought yourself the next best auger to the Nils Master.  It is a Husqvarna, marketed under a different name.  The handles are adjustable to your liking, so play with it.  Burn premium gas in it, and the first gallon of fuel, use Husqvarna oil.  After that use Opti2 oil, mixed to Opti specs.  You will love the light weight and compactness of the auger.  Congratulations on the purchase.

sry for the confusion but I bought the hand auger. The handle has a double offset and I am only used to one. Do I have to turn with both hands?

SwampThing,
You will get use to it. I'll never go back to a regular handle auger. Just keep it vertical and crank like heck and you will be fine. ;)

You will find out very quickly which arm is stronger than the other :)
I've had one for 3 years and I like it, I need to sharpen the blades though.
I just got myself the strikemaster xpress 8" and can't wait to try it out.

i've got one that i use until the ice gets thicker. its seems to work best if you double team-(compensates for that weaker arm). each just lay one hand on top to steady and 2 cranking without pushing down. you;d be amazed how fast you can get thru 2 or more feet of ice. i wipe and oil the blades after use and i haven;t sharpened mine yet. great little hand auger  :D :'( :'(
