Great Ending on the Big Lake

Fished a new area of Winni this year and it turned out great! Couple PB lakers for myself and some friends. PB Bow for me and PB Cusk for me (only around 3lbs). We started the season off catching tons of lakers. Lately we’ve been catching white perch here and there, but no lakers.

Last weekend the tip ups went off slow and steady. Our group Caught around 10 smallies, a monster yellow, a decent Cusk and some white perch. Traps caught pretty much everything but we were able to jig up some smallies.






Went out yesterday and it was the opposite ! Traps caught 2 white perch and the rest jigging. We marked a lot of fish that were sticking to bottom and just stayed persistent and eventually they’d turn on and we’d get them in a blitz, pick up a couple then it would shut off and we’d find more. We kept a good amount and threw about the same back. Before any of the online police get after me about possession limits, 2 different trips with 2 different groups. Ended the big lake ice fishing season with an AWESOME jig bite.






Didn’t catch the name of the gentlemen I met at the access yesterday, but it was a great trade off! I gave him what I had left of my live smelt and he helped us out with loading a bob house. Thanks again! Don’t know if he’s on here.

Ya, I think it will be. Have stuff going on this weekend and don’t think ice will last too much longer. I’m satisfied and have scratched the itch.... for now!

Yes we do! Show me a thing or two for open water salmon and trout, because that is NOT my strong suit lol
