Who's going to the pout fest this year? Heard it's a good time, let's hear some comments from some of you that have been there in the past.

I dont think my liver can take another poutfest. We usually just show up for the parties. It is definatly something to expereince if you havent before. Think of mardigras...but on ice!   ;D
The man banging on the door yelled "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms"... I just assumed it was more supplies.

I go every year.. but this year might be a bust... my First grandchild is due that weekend!  Aways a lot of fun...and yes I do fish hard looking for the Trophy Pout.  The good news is there is a new MicroBrewery Leech Lake Brewery in Walker  making a special beer just for the Festival... "Burbot Brown".....Winner of the Pout Festival gets the coolest trophy ever... it grows each year in height.  I even know where I put it   ;D if I win it!

Here is pic of the winner from a couple of years ago with her Pout and Trophy!

Just mapquested it is a 16 hour drive for me.  But damn I looked at the photos and it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.   From what I can gather about Eelpout fest it looks like NASCAR on ice if any of you all have camped out at a race or two.   Whats the nearest airport I might have to cash in some skymiles ;)

Might be tough to get out on the lake this year with all the snowfall and slush everywhere.  Hate to be a downer but check the forecast and conditions, it could change if they get some warmer weather soon.  I heard rumors that travel is limited to snowmobiles on most parts...just a heads up I guess.  I've always wanted to make it up too but work seems to get in the way!  I've been to a NASCAR race, and from the pictures of the festival it looks pretty darn close!!!

Jasonnd37 is correct .. I was up there yesterday pre fishing and it was very hard getting around without a sled and wheelers are use less this year ... Not to sure just yet if im going back up for the fest or not.. Theres also an airport just north of walker for small planes . If you had your own plane just add skies and land on the lake.

Its official. No vehicle traffic on the lake from friday morning through sunday. Only atvs and snowmobiles. Im sure the party will be alittle different and possibly smaller, but the interesting conditions will make for better stories. after all...that's what eelpout is all about

A true pouter won't let a little snow stop his/her party!

It's against MN laws to just kill a fish and throw it away on the ice.
