A gift from Santa
« on: Dec 05, 2011, 08:49 AM »
I have been trying to decide between a ice35, vx1 and fl8 for about a year now.  Last year I mentioned "electronics" to my wife and she bought me a flashlight for Christmas so I could do some night ice fishing.  ::) So, this fall I have looked really hard at all three and had decided on the ice35. But, I figured I would buy my wife and three kids presents first and see what money was left.

Well.... this weekend we had our annual Christmas with my mother,step-father and my brothers and sister and all of their families.  We usually do a really small gift exchange and then spoil all of the kids with nice toys and clothes. After the overnight stay which included lots of good food, and good times I started loading my van in the morning. As I was loading the van my step-father called me over to his car and told me he had a present for me.  I looked at the bass pro shop bag and was shocked.  I looked inside and about fell over..... I saw the red box with big lx3tc on the side. I couldn't believe my eyes and and after about 10 questions of why they bought something that nice he just said, take it!  I put the box next to me for the van ride home and when we arrived home I felt like a 5 year old opening a gift on Christmas morning.  I wanted to tear into the box really fast but I knew I needed to take special care of it. I opened it slowly, hooked up the leads and turned it on to make sure it worked.

As I fell asleep on the couch with the vx3 next to my feet, this gift that says "Marcum" will be a gift from Santa that I will never forget!!!

I Put it on the charger today and watched a few youtube videos. I did tell him that I would be happy to take him out anytime he wanted. I guess I should tell my mother the same.  Don't think either of them have ever been out so it would be a fun adventure.

Some say its better to give than receive, I think both are pretty great!  Thanks for the story, hope I get a cool father in law someday.
