16"-18" where I have been fishing in SW Iowa. It is warm and today and expected to be for the next few so we may lose a little.

that's what simcoe is at right now? haven't fished simcoe in a couple weeks. might have to get an extension made for my hand auger.

Lake Simcoe ,  main lake is 18 inches of clear ice yesterday.   Add 10 to 20 inches of snow depending on where you are standing and thats deep enough for this year !  If the winter was another 6 or 8 weeks longer we may need an extension on the gas augers. LOL    The snow has gotten deep up here this year.  A snowmobile paradise.

Most of NH I am finding 2'-3' of ice depending how far north I go.
Quote- fishslap: I use a variety:  whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser

The lakes are 22"+ depending on where you are.  River backwaters where there is some movement is 15"+.

This was some work 8 inch hand Auger my 6 inch is easier but the holes close in too fast on cold days.. I was in a Park In Orangeville Ontario . They drill 10 inch holes 3 for 5 Bucks and it all goes to conservation  Efforts so I had them Drill me 3  .    Told Her to come back in 1 hour and i would Buy more, she never came back I had to drill a few .. Caught 9 pike with My Son and Niece on Licence free weekend This Sunday ..

You need this, this is me drilling a 8" hole last weekend on Saginaw Bay in Michigan last week. Please disregard the date, I got it mixed up when shooting the video.
