As of Saturday,March 1st,almost four feet thick on Chippewa Bay,Saint Lawrence River.Safe to drive on.

Outside Chicago we have 18/20" of ice. This is the first time I've ever been able to ice fish in march.

42 inches of good solid ice here.

Slight correction ...

Yes, on this particular lake 42" thick where the ice had been windswept clear beside a permie, but on average about 36" of ice elsewhere in the same area with more than a foot of packed snow cover on top.

Last night we fished a lake that had 21 inches this is the most ice I have seen in pa and if it keeps up we will have to drill holes for the first morning of trout season

got about 5" left on the auger before she bottoms out in central maine. some of the lakes an extension is needed. we'll be ice fishing well into april at this rate.

Just about had to finish drilling my holes on my knees yesterday, about 32 inches of ice.  Today there was about 27".  Either way, tons of ice compared to normal.  Usually we average about 20" on a good year here in central Maine.
