Faribault lakes area. Preferable shields

I live in lonsdale and tried the faribault lakes and never have much luck for panfish. Any tips?  Spots? Most likely looking towards shields. I also hit up cedar by new Prague and I always get lucky there with big crappies and perch.

I always have good luck on Cedar for panfish, even caught some tiger musky this last spring. In the Faribault area I've had the most luck on Mazaska this fall. Fishing breaklines and inside turns caught nice size bluegill, crappie, and occasional northern.

I heard that lake is trash. I live minutes away and I've never caught or marked a fish even when I fish in the big groups of ice houses where they always are. Any tips? Just a general area of where to start?

I fish on the south side of the lake by myself. Go in between the island and the weed bed on the south side of the island for an evening walleye bite. And during the day go 70 yards to the west of the weed bed for jumbo perch and 20 yards east of the weed bed for some more jumbo perch.

And another tip, get out in early ice. Once late January comes the fish are done even I can't find them and I live on the lake. Mazaska is another lake where you can slay crappie and walleye by following structure and water depth.

How do you fish that lake in the winter? Are you starting by shore and working your way out? I have never fished that lake in the decade I have lived down here.

use the topo maps available from the dnr to find the structure, then do the footwork.
