Sayers Dam
« on: Nov 19, 2010, 08:21 PM »
Looks like there is about 3 feet to go on the first draw down.  Should take about another 6 or 7 days.  Just in time for the cold weather to arrive.   ;D
Bring on the ice!!!!!!!  <br />

It doesn't seem to be taking long. I thought they were starting on the 15th  did they start the draw down earlier?

Well it will be a while before this lake will be fishable.  I just checked the latest lake levels and it is at 637 feet, which is 7 feet above summer pool. :o

They had about one more day left on the first draw down.  It took about 2 weeks to drop the lake 5 feet, so based on these calculations it will be about 4 weeks or so before the lake is back to the first draw down level of 625 feet.

12 feet? :'( :'(

How about 13 feet.  :o  It just peaked at 638 feet.  The powers to be down stream probably have them holding the water back to not flood any additional homes down stream.  I know when this happens when there is ice trying to form it just messes things up.  Too much current for ice to form correctly.

I also noticed on the DCNR website that portions of the park are shut down because the water is too high.

Where's Diggerdon with an update?

Digger Don for John T.  I'm BACK -We have the lake turned around and we have her gong our way.  We have a good opening and we are releasing water as I speak.  We had the lake down to 625.00 and with the high water we almost went to 639.00.  We had probably our largest INFLOW since the dam was built.  Milesburg was really hit hard.   I cannot give an exact time when we will be back to summer level or even our level of 625.00 which we had before.  I'll try and give everyone as much information as I am allowed to give and like everyone else I am looking forward to the ice fishing season.  Can't wait to see everyone again and I hope everyone is healthy for the upcomming season!      Digger Don!

Thanks for the update.  Sorry to hear about your dad.

Diggerdon had the gates wide open last week and dumped some serious water.  The lake is down to 627 feet.  Only 2 more feet to go.

Digger Don:  First off I am so sorry to hear about pap up at Rich's Bait Shop and his passing.  I know he fought a valiant battle with his cancer.  We will all miss him as he was our friend in all fishing.  Don't forget to support the girls and boy at Rich's.  Stop in and check out their ice equipment.
Also - it looks as though we lucked out with the rain and we will reach our goal of 625.00 early this week.  We planned it that way just in time for the freeze-up.  Ha. just luck I quess.  Hunter's Run was froze over last week - I don't think it will be long now!  I'll try and give everyone as much information as allows during the season!  Hope to see everyone soon!    Digger - Don the DAM MAN!

Hey girlsbaitshop any word if you'll be having shiners any time soon? Since they seem to be scarce this early in the season. I'm assuming you're currently carrying fat heads?
It's never too late to switch bait.

Sorry for your loss. We always enjoy stopping in and buying bait from the girls. So much cheaper there than where I come from.

Diggerdon for john t. :  We are back to our first draw-down level of 625.00 and now let the ice begin to form. Hunter Run cut has ice back in the cove but the narrow part of the cut is open.  We need the wind to stop blowing to make ice.  Let's hope we have good ice on the main part of the lake as it takes the pressure off Hunter Run.  Remember support the ladies at Rich,s.  Also stop in and see JUNIOR at Klinefelters.  It is worth the trip just to talk to JUNIOR!    Don!

Digger for John:  I took some measurements yesterday!  Main lake and inlet to Hunters Run Cove - 2 inches.  The Cove at Hunters Run - 3" to 4".  Would I go on it yet?  NO!  I CAN WAIT UNTIL IT IS AROUND 4" or better all around the lake.  Be patient, Be Safe!  Remember stop in at Rich's and help the ladies out!   Don!
