Will there be any safe ice north hero Fri/Sat from NH headed to Holiday Harbor

Talked to Bruce today. He said there is. Will be interesting to see what happens with the warmer temps and rain after this short cold snap. I’m headed up tomorrow.

Tight lines and stay safe!

Carry Bay or Missiquoi should be good. Say Hi to Bruce for me. I'll be heading up there on 2/19. Hopefully we'll have plenty of ice by then.
Strange year so far.

Ice is caught south of Bruce's motel but haven't seen anyone other than a sun fisherman out there. Before the snow the dillenback ice looked kind of bad and there hasn't been many out there. All ice and plenty of fishermen north of the ILM causeway along the Alburgh west shore. I fished the last 2 days north of the rt 78 bridge and plenty of ice but so far no wheelers. The only place I have seen wheelers is off Alburgh village. Haven't seen anyone setting up many tip ups for pike etc. Gut is frozen but haven't seen anyone out there yet.

  • If it's cold I'm on the hard water...
Hopefully the weatherman is wrong, but looks warm and rainy this weekend... I’m ready for some real ice...
My passion for fishing and hunting, I owe to my Father and Uncle Art. RIP Art Rye, I will cherish all the days on the hard water we spent together and all the days in the woods. Miss you...

7 to 8+ inches on Carry today. SLOW bite. Not a single pike or bass on tip-ups all day... Fingers crossed for some REAL winter weather after it's going to be 50s and rain on Saturday. Best of luck to you!

Just a warning for people who might be planning a trip to Vt for fishing. We had good fishable ice all the way from the ILM causeway to Alburgh village. That ice is gone and went out overnight. There was a report of a wheeler out yesterday at the west shore access but it all went out overnight. Ice is limited so if anyone is planning a trip I would suggest postponing. Call Bruce at the motel for some better reports specific to where you want to fish.

Arrived at Holiday Harbor. Got some good ice near Bruce’s 6 inches mostly black. Chased fish all afternoon nonstop. Got some nice pike in the 4-7lb range.

Out on Dillenbeck today with the quad on 6 inches. Slower today but still catching fish. We will be back out tomorrow unless it gets sketchy.

That's  a fair question.  Four wheelers with single saddle.seat are more commonly called wheelers  while larger side by sides or four passenger cab might also be called a wheeler.

Any updates on the ice ?
Im 4 hours away and have a trip scheduled for the end of the month i want to bring my side by side but dont want to haul it that far if I cant use it.
Any info whould be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I talked to Bruce a few days ago. No trucks on at his ramp but he did say wheelers were ok. Also said there were trucks on the ice up by the bridge to NY
and they were also getting on at shipyard Rd.in Highgate Springs. Going up the 19th and plan on bringing the wheeler. Hope they only get a little snow and not what is in the forecast.

Its scary that they are driving trucks on that bay.
Most ice I could find was 11-12".
Majority was 9-10".
Maybe 1/2 that was black ice.
Were running wheelers out there this weekend.
Launches are going to get destroyed with trucks and campers getting on.
Stay safe out there.

I'd agree.  I like to come up and drive on when its ready but I need at least 15" of ice to be comfortable.

Yup I like about 15" or better of good ice to drive the truck out. Not planning on bringing the truck out this year. Glad I got the wheeler.

May need a Snowmobile after all the snow.

Last year I was ripping my denali through 18-20" no issues.  Good tires and 4 wheel drive prevail.
