« on: Feb 12, 2020, 01:47 PM »
Looking to jig a few Lakers next weekend.. But have no idea where or if any productive water has safe ice.. Any info and tips would be appreciated.. I'm a newbie when it comes to Lakers..

Unfortunately none of the areas I know of are frozen yet, this cold snap the next couple nights will hopefully at least start the process. For now it's perch and pike chasing.

there was 7 to 10 inches of ice at Potash Bay & Tri-Town yesterday, so I expect at least as much as you go south closer to the Crown Point bridge.  Ice was walkable - some drifted snow but not too deep, some bare ice.

I wouldn't go on the ice at Arnold Bay or Button Bay. Potash Point seems to be the northern extent of fishable ice.  There were large patches of open water just outside the inner bays at both Arnolds and Button and possibly with cold temps last night there now is a thin cover of ice so it might seem safe at first but can get very thin suddenly.

good luck !

I never made it down south to potash or crown point but we were able to hunt some down up here about 20 minutes from me which is awesome! This was the big of the trip that my buddy caught..
