Lake Champlain Ice
« on: Jan 17, 2020, 11:39 AM »
Hi there I started this thread last year and it seemed to be a good one. Just use this thread to share the ice conditions on lake Champlain! In particular I was wondering about the ice conditions on keelers bay and at Georgia shore as I was hoping to get out tomorrow if anyone has any info!

Just got back in the door 5 minutes ago from checking the ice on Outer Malletts Bay. I found only about 2 inches of ice just 20 feet off shore. The good news is that with high winds last night most of the snow was swept off the ice and it is mostly bare now. The ice is clear and solid. Tonight will be very cold so I am hoping there will some fishing this weekend. According to the ice freezing chart/formula there could be another inch or two by tomorrow. Tonight's forecast has low temps below 0.
Hope this helps someone. Be safe out there.

Keelers is solid about half way out to Kellogg Island. Open water east of there all the way to Georgia shore and that's as of a day ago.

Fished keelers yesterday. There was a solid 7 inches in the bay and people fishing out toward Kellog Island. Looks pretty well locked up for as far as I could see

I was in Malletts Bay earlier today and there was a wheeler out 1/4 mile or so in front of access. Has anyone seen wheelers or snow machines at St Albans Bay or Georgia shore???? thanks

I was out on St. Albans all day yesterday and there was a wheeler out a good ways to the south west of the marina and tracks from one on the west side of the marina as well.

Eosdis satellite photo showed the inland sea locked up a couple days ago.  I went to check this morning- I spudded my way out 100' until my spud found water on one hit.

Almost there!

Great eating.

Singing Cedars about 5-6 inches.  Nothing bit.  The ice was singing like the cedars, though.
Has anyone been on the Inland Sea from the islands side?
