isn:t it amazing pooley, just like the woman coming out of the woodwork when the weather gets nice out , so do the shanty members when there is a chill in the air.

I'll have to spend more time on here than I usually do this winter. I can't afford to fill the gas tank on my auger.

has anyone else noticed there seems to be about twice the number of people ice fishing than there was ten years ago?

haha no just twice as many on this site!!!! no really i think a lot of it is beacue of sites like this, when people go out and dont catch anything they quit eventually. but if they come to this site figure out what they are doing wrong then they never quit and probbaly get a ton of of other people into it

Plus we fish in syle now. Electronics, shanties,heaters. Its not a misserable experience to be on the ice in really cold weather. Coarse some of us fished for years and just recently found this site.

Now I have a graphite rod with a real with the drag dialed in just right. no more loud snap from a fish overloading the rod.

the five gallon bucket was much more vital in the ice fishing setup, you know? it did everything.

It has been replaced by the icefishing tent. They store your gear and offer a place to sit. The bucket never kept you dry and warm.

The huts and heaters are great. Last year I got an under water camera. That is so much fun in the hut, I almost forget to fish. For the grandkids it's as much fun as their video games and it gets them outside. Watching the fish take your bait is a hoot. If the fish aren't biting it lets you look around and see why. Need ice, sooner than later. I think I'll go sharpen my augers, never to sharp. afishingfool
