Yep I know I was out once during rifle season last year. That ice can't come fast enough.
Hi from the northwoods. I'm looking forward the the upcoming ice season. However I seldom fish here in the state. I travel a lot due to the poor quality of many lakes nearby. I attribute the poor fishing to pressure and lack of slot limits. In my opinion (and many other local fishermen) our smaller lakes can't withstand the fishing pressure. This may sound extremely negative however it has been the general consensus among avid fishermen here in the northern part of the state.
Its going to be after Christmas before we have any ice south of Castle Rock (maybe even further north of that)
Anybody hitting the ice show this upcoming weekend?
I have yet to see open water come Christmas up on the Wi/Mi boarder. But stranger things have happened.
...... The good news is the week after should offer some good ice making with lows dropping to single digits.
Calling for 8 - 12" of white stuff in that neighborhood come Sunday. That's not good news if there's enough ice to hold it up........
There is hope 52..... Snow has been significantly reduced. Rain first (melt what there is?) with just a few inches and cold following. Here's the back end of the 10 day for Conover.....They had 8 - 12" snow Sunday going into Monday... It's better.
Checking in new member, Cudahy....... Wheres the ice this sucks I just retired!
Congratulations on the retirement! I'm not retired, but was planning a two week ice fishing trip to Tomahawk starting New Years. That trip seems like it is in jeopardy at this point.
