Canada is letting double vaccinated Americans in starting August 9th.  The US is not letting Canadians into the US yet, but the new administration seems to have no problem letting illegal Mexicans in, go figure.
It' s so messed up. Feel horrible for all the camp owners in Canada, both Canadian an US, so tough for these guys to hang in there.

Was out at the cabin for the last 4 days and got some more paneling up.
The empty space will be drywalled and tiled as it's the back splash in the kitchen.
Had to stop because I realized I haven't got my rear surround speakers yet and they need to go above the window.

Dave, did you do all the plans and layouts yourself or buy it? I find that amazing someone can plan all that out ahead of time. Either way it looks awesome. Keep us updated. I know I'm not the only one interested in the progression.

I designed it on the computer but I have changed a few things as the build has evolved.

Nice work!

What do you think your grandpa would say if you told him you designed your cabin on a computer, and were putting in a surround sound theater?

 ???

I have no idea. I never met either of my grandpa's.
They both died during WWII fighting the German's.

Not just surround sound either as there is CAT5 network wiring throughout the cabin and XLR cabling from my home studio in the loft to the sound system on the main floor. :)

one last weekend at the cabin.
Spent my time peeling logs I cut in the spring. Started to run short on time so some aren'tcompletely clean. So many more need to be cut and peeled.

Tomorrow the dock comes out.   :-\

Are you peeling those logs with a draw knife? We used a Makita power planer with a carbide blade, and it had the same effect, but with a lot less work. The tool is kind of dedicated to peeling logs after that though- gets all full of pitch.

Drawknife to get the main bark off then power planer to finish. Bark came off easy as the logs were damp.

Chillin' at the bush crib until Tuesday.
Had our local pellet supplier deliver a couple of skids out to the cabin. I love the SxS!!!! I can haul 28 bags of pellets at a time up the hill to the cabin.

Looking good, that is the way to haul pellets around. Just wish I had a way to get them into the house without hauling all of them by hand. Had one guy build a chute that worked good but we do not have that ability here.

Drifter/Dave nice that you are able to spend some time at the cabin. GOOD that you could get the supplier to deliver the stove pellets now while the "Ice Roads" are still open and not have to transport the by boat later in the Spring/Summer. Happy to read you are making use of your expensive toy to make things easier for you.

Fish/hunt4ever possibly you can find a "Garden Cart" that would fit through doorways of your house and use it to move the stove pellet bags.

4,800 #'s of pellets hauled and stacked.
Good for a while now.

Steve
Bringing them in during the winter is the only way to go. Hand balming 40# bags up from the lake would result in my untimely demise!!!  :roflmao:

Drifter/Dave may it be a beautiful weather wise at your cabin. agree transport 40 pound bags any distance by manual labor is not fun. Thank you for the photos.
