Drifter-016/Dave ,thank you for answering my question the rock veneer will be another nice feature to your cabin. Good you have inside work to do on rainy days. I have another question how many years ago did you start work on the cabin.

This is the 5th year.
I've had the property for 6 but year one was cutting the snowmobile trail, building and installing the dock and foundation layout.

Looking great! As a painter i am wondering what you used on your cedar? I am located about 60 miles NW of Chicago. I find clears finishes look great for a while. But turn into a maintenance issue. Another words light sand and recoat. Hope you do not run into that up there. Again your work really looks great

Dave I see you have all of the wires marked as to where they go. I wired a big two story house with a wood basement. I had every wire marked as to where it went. I told my boss that he was going to do the breaker box. He never recorded any of the wires. The only way I could find where one went was to plug in a radio and keep flipping breakers until the radio went off.

For the same boss we had to scrape off as much of the polyurethane that we could that had been put on a cedar log cabin he built before I went to work for him. The poly did not take the expansion and contracting of the logs so it split letting water in. We put linseed oil over all of it to try and save it. Linseed oil was the reason that Olympic stains used to be so good.

Got the West side fascia and SAT dishes installed.
Just need to aim them and we'll have teevee.  ;D

Even got out for a little fishing after dinner.
It was a beauty night so of course the fishing was slow.
Went 3 for 5 with a couple of knockoffs.
Was better hit wise yesterday and he day before when it was blowin' and a rockin'   ::)

Let me know what you are using for the fire protection , guessing some big ag Impact head , also the nozzle size and where you are at. May be able to save you some bucks. Keep killin it!

Yup big AG sprinklers.
2 times Rainbird 85EHD Tough Bird is the model.
For nozzles I will need to experiment with everything hooked up to dial it in. I figure if I get  two of the 7/16", 15/32" and  1/2" I should be covered.  I'm up in Yellowknife Northwest Territories. Closest dealers are in Alberta 1,000 miles South of me. Canadian pricing is close to $500 a piece on the sprinklers. Haven't priced nozzles.

Sorry to hear about problem with miter saw good that it was still under warranty and you have a back up saw.  May this be the only tool/equipment problem you have this building season.

Been raining plus I took 2 days off in town this week as well as a full day of fishing with a buddy so haven't got a ton done this week.  @)

Got the North side of the loft all wired and insulated as well as a good portion of the West wall.

Moved my bench and all the tools over to the finished side and got the vaulted ceiling on the South side of the loft insulated.

Got a bit of plumbing stared in the West wall as well.

Installed plywood on the wall of the storage space under the stairs where the 120 volt and 12 volt electrical panels will go.
Painted it up too.

On the opposite side of the wall inside the bedroom closet resides the SAT wiring.
Still need to aim the dang things.

Lastly, I got myself a little fridge so I don't have to worry so much about ice.
Built a decent temp shelf to hold it so I could reclaim the pair of sawhorses that were doing the duty previously.
Fridge stays cold all night after shutting down the genny at bedtime.

Tomorrow is another fishing day with buddy before he flies back South on Monday.

Also wondering what kind of a fishery your lake has? I know lake trout, but are their other species you also target?

Fishing was very good on Wednesday but today was a little slow. We did manage to boat 10 trout today though. Just got back from dropping buddy off at the launch.

There are whitefish, burbot and some big pike in the lake. I fish for them all. :)

It won't be fully insulated but I hope to get some stuff done. Or maybe I'll just go fishing. 🤔🤔🤔

I love looking at the pictures of your cabin build, all high quality workmanship on everything you do.  You said it's not going to be fully insulated and was wondering if you're going to stay there during the winter most of the time.

I'll just do day trips.
The flat part of the ceiling is getting blown in insulation and I probably won't do that until late winter or spring as I need the ice to get the insulation and the blower out there. Hope to have all the walls and vaulted ceiling done before then.
Still have lots of wiring and plumbing that has to be done before closing in the ceiling and some of the wall sections.
