Drifter/Dave  think we all have fell victim to weather forecasts over the years. Glad you were able to change vacation time may nature cooperate with you that week.

Well I'm officially on vacation.
Unfortunately I'm sitting on my couch as the wind is howling with gusts over 60 mph.
Gonna have to wait until the winds calm a bit until I head out to the cabin.   ::) ::)

Look forward to the upcoming week and checking in to see how things are going.

Did you get out there much over the winter - seems I was away a bit, perhaps you posted and I missed it.

Safe travels,

Dave

Been a rough week.
Bilge pump float switch stuck and killed the battery, storm then sunk the boat.
Water in the fuel meant a tow back to the dock at the end of it all.
Then the truck battery was dead.   ::)

A few pics from the week.

Front done.

Scaffolding set up on North wall.

UH OH!!   :o

North wall done.

The ride home.   :'(

Sorry to hear about your issues with the boat and truck.  The siding looks really nice.  What are you going to put on the bottom below the siding?

The siding looks great, and the cultured stone is really going to make things pop!

Drifter Thanks for the up date.

It must have been a challenge to get the scaffold set on the slope. That wasp nest should not be to hard to get rid of with a can of long shooting spray. There is a nice bulls eye to aim at.

Hopefully the fix of the boat is an easy one.

Nest is gone.
Long range spray hosed it down but was at the edge of it's range so really didn't work too well.
Went into the cabin and removed 2 staples from my screen in the soffit and knocked it down with a stick.
Waited an hour and went out and doused the nest and any that came back to the original nest site.

Stone wont be done until the end.
Want to get the inside done first.
Just going to stain it for now.

Thank you for the photo update on your cabin build sorry to hear about the problems with your boat and truck. Glad you had soffit screens in place so hornets did not get into cabin. May things go better on your next extended stay at the cabin.

Dave,

Thanks for the update.  News from you has become a Summer staple for many of us.

Cabin sure looks great, except for that nest!

Sorry to hear of the troubles.

Dumb Q: Bilge pump is auto, to avoid what eventually happened because it was stuck?  I.e., it automatically came on but didn't shut off?

Boat engine OK?  Water probs only in fuel?

Yup, bilge came on and switch stuck in the on position due to algae growth.
Engine should be good, did not submerge.
Was running fine until sucked up water in fuel.
Will drain the tank, blow the lines and git er going this weekend.

Cabin looks nice! Looks like nice insulated siding. I've hung a lot of siding and I've never hung from the top down. That must be high quality! I've used craneboard but it was still bottom up. Thanks for the pics

It is hung bottom up.
I don't think it's possible to do it the other way. ^_^

Good news, Dave!

Not to pour any salt in the wound, but what did all that fun set you back?  Besides the inconvenience, that's one way we measure difficulties at our house.  Besides the tow, did you do all the rest yourself?

Looking forward to more posts.  You're doing something about which many of us dream but very few of us will ever do.  Thanks as always for the sharing.
