char advice
« on: Jan 17, 2013, 10:41 PM »
Does anyone have any advice on targeting char (stocked broodstock specifically)? I would love to get into some good sized fish while I am stuck in Anchorage during the week. Any tips on bait, lures, and techniques would be greatly appreciated.

Sand Lake, fish out in front of the canal off West 80th. Anything with orange on it works well. Try a medium sized silver and orange Krocodile spoon. 20-40 ft depths are best for Char.

Pound the bottom with the lure for a bit and then pull it up off the bottom and jig and every so often yank it up and let it fall and wait for the strike as your pulling it back up.

The camel toes around the Anchorage bowl area and up the Glen take really well using bright colored aero jigs.

I hear pink works rather well.
