? about open water at Fort Quappelle

Went through town yesterday and seen the water was open where you go over it on the highway. I know you all like you're ice fishing (who doesn't?), but has anyone ever cast out a line there in the winter, and if so, ever caught a fish?

I have tried when I was younger and put many many hours on the river with little to no success. Not worth the time IMO, spring and fall are a different story and having a small boat will put you onto some good fish if you know the structure of the river.
