I've lost some weight, walking 2 miles nearly everyday and some lite, lite weights to tone up, can't wait to hit the ice! And maybe a little trapping...

Lol, that's great, I like to put The Green Hornet strikes again when I text pictures of fish to people, especially my boy. :roflmao:

My cousin lived three blocks away from John's (Jack Lemmon) house in St. Paul......I went past there a lot. I think every bait shop in St. Paul has a green hornet for sale.....;D
-
That's cool, I'd like to see that place.

in the movie they were ice fishing on lake rebecca down from L&D 2 - if you want to stick to the story there are tons of backwaters near Wabasha

I got my green hornet from Slippery's Tavern... Used it once, definitely just a wall piece/conversation starter.

If ya decide to try it over here, swing by my house....ya haveta drive past me to get to Wabasha. I'll put ya on some spots. Fished all over that area. And I'll take ya out to my favorite restaurant over there... the one on my T-shirt. I actually was wearing this yday! :woot: Terrific walleye sandwich and onion rings at Slippery's. Nice place just to hang out and view the river.

A minor set back, hopefully...
Monday a soar throat. Tuesday soar throat and a cough, then after dinner a headache started and my temp spiked up. No sleep Tuesday night. Got up Wednesday took the Covid test, positive. Call the ER, they told me to come in. Tons of blood work, EKGs, X-Ray, they are great people and thorough for sure! Because of the number of meds I was on I wasn't able to get the therapeutic meds that are available. Tylenol was able to bring down the temp(100.2) and did manage to get some sleep. Woke up Thursday feeling much better. I was able to eat the first time in a day and a half, felt much, much better. Today a low grade temp(99.1) with no Tylenol, slight soar throat and cough but was well enough to mow the lawn. Hopefully this stays going the right way...
Rebelss, Very cool t-shirt! And if I had a cousin that lived three blocks away from John Gustafson's house in St. Paul, I'd visit and check it out, especially during the St. Paul Ice Fishing & Winter Sports Show!
-
O crap....hope yer much better Bart! Nothing to fool around with! Don't overdo and get plenty of rest...I know how the many meds thing can fudge up/not allow ya to use what would really help ya. Hope ya whacked it for good! I'd go up to my cousins 4-5 times a year; usually for the State Fair, 4th of July, or holidays. Best ice fishing I ever had up there was on a Christmas day....the ice was already about 14" thick if I remember on White Bear lake. There are so many houses that are just like that in the Summit Hill area it ain't funny. I took pics of the house first winter I saw it; after that, it was just old hat when we'd drive by. He moved to northern Minnesota about five years ago to get away from the crazy crap. ::)

That sucks, it's some nasty crap, we had it last week, I'm still getting over it.

I just started to feel better yday....tail ain't draggin's so much, and my head ain't doing the pounda-pounda -boom-boom it was doing. Most of the bad body aches left, too. Don't know what it was, but it sure wasn't any good. Six days of it. ::)

I'd guess you had the covid too, about what we had and the old lady had to test for work and she was positive, so we laid in bed all last week, I'm dragging a bit, just hit a wall about halfway through work, but feel much better from what I did a week ago.
-
You might be right. Was coughing and wheezing a lot, too. Since I live alone, I just hole up when I'm sick, and don't get around anyone, so I never think of testing. Places like the grocery store, I do self-checkout anyway, not really around anyone except my buddies that stop over.
-
If she didn't have to test, we'd have never known, that's all we do when we're sick, hide out in the house.
-
I didn't have enough energy to watch TV, went to bed at 8:00pm. After a much better day I'm sitting here sweating bullets, another early night for me. My Doctor told me it could take up to two weeks to get over it!
Hope all stay on the mend...
-
Hope you get better and a full recovery soon bart.
-
I've been hittin' the sack at 9:00 PM.......that's as long as I can make it, and sleeping until 8:00 AM. Normally to bed at 11:00 and up at 6:00 AM after about 6-7 hours tops. Maybe we need some of Doc's hot peppers and veggie tonic. ;D
-

This is a fun time...I've only been to one there years ago. My MIL & FIL were from Wabasha, so we went there a lot on weekends with them. Great little river town. Fun to watch the tows and barges outside Slippery's....took these as we were going in.
Grumpy Old Men Festival...

I went to the Grumpy Old Men festival in Wabasha. It was back in the 90’s. Loved that movie and had a great time. If I can find all my pictures I will post them at some point.
Here is my green hornet rod I bought at the festival.

 Good job!
Talked to my buddy today. We're gonna hit Slippery's in about 2 weeks, when the leaves are at peak color change. The drive along the river to get up there is fantastic at that time, just beautiful. Called the Great River Road Drive. Lotsa cool places to stop and nose around. I've done 'em all over the years, but I never get tired of it.

Glad I kept a blank, don't want to try and draw that out again.
-
It was such a cool thing that I got to do. Just happened to be working in the SPAM capitol during the winter. Needed something to do on the weekend and the festival was what we found!!
-
Wish I had made it to Slippery’s….not sure why we didn’t…
-
Lol, too many other cool things to do.
