Post by: CoachWalleye74 on Sep 07, 2022, 11:42 AM
Anybody use a 570 Ranger for ice fishing and residential (driveway) snow removal?  Enough power?

I just got a  new 2022 polaris ranger sp 570 which is the midsize model.its got all kinds of power in low gear.i have not used 4x4 yet but plan on getting a plow and use it for icefishing with atv chains on the rear tires.

I have a 2020 Ranger 570 2 seater.
It works fine for what I do. I will never plow with it because I prefer snowblowers to put the snow where I want it.
Im sure it would work great at plowing, but at what expense? The drivetrain is going to wear out faster doing plowing.
I also have a gravel driveway and hate the damage done by plowing.
The machine has done fine at traveling across Houghton Lake towing my big shanty 3 miles out.
I haven't needed chains, yet.
Over 8000 miles of use on trails and lakes and some yard work.
Not too small and not too big. Easy to haul. Plenty of power.

I use my ace 500 to plow and have plenty of power. The 570 has a tad bit more power, so you should have no problem.

There is a large variation in how much snow you might need to push, depending on where you live. I can do 4 inches easily with a 36 inch plow on a small ATV, so I would guess if you don't get a huge plow, you should do 6-8 inches easily. Perhaps those that have comparable units could let you know if they have trouble pushing more than X inches of snow.
